What I Learned This Week As Team Leader

Being a team leader in any line of work is a big responsibility. You are placed in trust of the lives and livelihoods of everyone you are placed in charge of. Management is not easy because you have to coach, correct and discipline when necessary. It is also a fun job because you get to do different things and to impart your vision to your team. I hope to grow and develop as a person as I do this job.

Of course you have production goals to achieve which requires a lot of work and being sure that work is done by every team member. You as a middle manager which I am means you get pressure from the top to perform and you get it from below from your team when they have problems, and you hope that you can manage them as they happen.

In my line of work there statistics, metrics, data and spreadsheets that one can use to measure performance and productivity. However a co-worker said that stats don’t make the person, the worker is more valuable than that. Now that I am headed into my second week in management I see things coming together and things smoothing themselves as I go along. Indeed I am grateful for this opportunity.

My First Week In Management Is Done

Well I finished my first week as Team Leader of the telerecruiting department at Blood Assurance and survived. My team did good work and helped make this week a positive experience. Next week is just a couple of days away but I am glad it’s the weekend.

Our first visit to our new, nearby Food City. I liked many of the prices and new choices on the shelves. Not a huge renovation though. Much of the old Bi Lo stuff is still there. #foodcity #chattanooga

Farewell souffle girl, you brought some spark and moxie to your role as Clara Oswald. Your time as the companion will be remembered. Thank you for the good memories.
