Every year on July 31st we watch the movie “Muriel’s Wedding” starring Toni Collette and Rachel Griffiths. This was the movie we watched the night our apartment burned just months after our wedding. This is a movie we enjoy very much because it has a interesting story about a underdog who is just trying to make a name for her self by getting married and being successful, but in the movie Muriel realizes that marriage and success aren’t one and the same.
With all the stuff going on lately this flashback to the 1980’s seems to be appropriate. A lot of conflict is going on that were started by others and have continued through other generations. This song speaks volumes about the world we live in, past and present. It seems more current than ever. Billy Joel has it right with this one.
Giving life: The need for blood donations never lets up — http://t.co/rULjvSmatS pic.twitter.com/4EvQdIsQ1M

I work for Blood Assurance a regional blood center that serves Tennessee, Georgia, Virginia and Alabama. We provided blood for patients injured during the shootings of July 16, 2015 here in Chattanooga. Emergencies are not the only time when blood is needed and the need for blood is constant. Every donation helps 3 lives and that is awesome.
Some folks can give while others can’t. We all have a part to play in making our world better. Giving your time and talents is a noble thing that benefits our greater global community. For me, donating blood is something I enjoy doing.

This is from a friend of mine. He is smart and snarky at the same time.
Today is my grandparent’s 71st wedding anniversary. Today is also their first anniversary since my grandmother passed away last September. Polly and Leon were from a small town in Georgia, they moved around for his work in the Navy and in broadcasting. Eventually his work led them to my hometown where they raised 3 awesome girls.
My grandparents are awesome people who showed what love is to be about. My life has been better because of them. She helped raise me and taught me many lessons of life that I still use today.
I am grateful to have my grandfather still with us but I miss my grandmother very much. Some days I miss hearing her voice. We will celebrate the life they had together and the love they still share even though she lives in heaven now. They are both gifts from God.
