Productive

Productivity sometimes means digging a whole lot before you strike gold. Everyday is different and productivity is a fluid thing. The one thing you can’t get is discouraged because when you least expect it you will be busting open the flood gates. Life brings challenges that should be met with different approaches on a daily basis.

Some Words For The Day

Have patience in the situation you are in.

Have persistence in the situation you are in.

Have positivity in the situation you are in.

May you have the perception to know when to change.

A Short Ramble On Fear

Fear is a thing that keeps us from moving forward or doing something new. It’s the thing that paralyzes us and keeps us in the status quo. Being afraid of something prevents us from having new experiences and exploring the unknown. As Franklin D. Roosevelt once said “The only thing we have to fear is fear itself” so lets free ourselves of fear…if we dare.

Comment or Friendship

I fear commenting on stuff a lot of times because I am left-of-center on many issues. Everyone has the right to their opinion but when yours goes against many of your friends it can become a problem. There are times I need to keep silent so that friendships can remain. I don’t know but I don’t have a lot of really tight friendships in this life so sometimes I have to keep silent.

Maybe I don’t fall for the lemming thing and I have chosen to think on my own. Maybe not having a great number of friends has freed me to form independent opinions on things which has informed me about the world in a deeper way. On Facebook and even Twitter there are debates of the day which has raised the volume of rhetoric and venom among people who have been life-long friends. Perhaps I choose to be different and the voice of what is fair, just, inclusive and loving.

So do I comment or choose friendship…that is a tough one.

Sweet Heat Pork Chops

I love pork and this was very satisfying. The pork has a subtle heat that dances delicately on the tongue. Paired with a sweet potato its a classic combination that is hard to beat. You should try this soon.

Laura B's avatarThe Soup Diva

  • 1 pkg pork chops (1.25 to 1.50 lbs, boneless or bone-in)
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black or white pepper
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper*
  • 1/2 tsp paprika (regular or smoked)*
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
Mix dry ingredients together and rub liberally over pork (use as much of the rub as you can). These can be stored covered in the refrigerator overnight, or cooked immediately. Allow to sit for 15 minutes at room temperature if cooking after refrigeration.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Heat oil in cast iron or similar skillet on medium-high until oil is “shimmering.” Place pork chops in single layer and cook for 5 minutes on each side. Move to oven and cook until desired doneness, 5-10 minutes. The brown sugar rub makes the most wonderful glaze! We love these chops with a baked sweet potato.

Sinuses

So, I have gone a long time without a sinus infection of any sort. I live in a area that is the 3rd worst areas for allergies in the country. We are surrounded by mountains, trees, a river and that sort of thing. Now due to those allergens I now have a sinus infection due to sinus drainage. I left work today to get it taken care of and I am glad I did. The doctor I went to said to me that there is some redness in my ears, nose and throat. My work requires my voice and the throat is a big part of that. Now I am home just resting and relaxing to have some healing process begin. I am at work every day and I am blessed with a great amount of sick time which is awesome. Sinuses, can’t live with out them but you sure hate it when they get the best of you.
