The fire truck is something I look at with the eyes of a kid who grew up respecting and wishing to be a firefighter. Life had other plans for me though. The fascination and awe is still there and always will be. Be safe Chattanooga Fire Department in your mission is to keep this community safe.
Today is Cheeseburger Day, and we celebrated by going to a local place called Monkey Town Brewing and Restaurant. To honor the occasion I got the Elvis Burger which has two 1/4 lb patties, bacon, BBQ sauce, onion ring and of course cheese. I paired it with tater tots and some refreshing ice-cold Pepsi.
This is the pimento cheeseburger that my missus had. It featured bacon, candied jalapeño, and fried green tomato. She paired it with sidewinder fries.
This evening, two Americans who love Canada checked out some new-to-us Canadian TV shows. We love the talented actors who tell great stories set in a country we love very much.
Our first program was Kim’s Convenience, which is about the lives of a Korean Canadian family that owns a convenience store in a Toronto neighborhood. The show features Paul Sun-Hyung Lee from The Mandalorian and lately in Murdoch Mysteries and Simu Liu, who you have seen in Marvel’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.
Then we checked out Hudson & Rex, a show about a detective who teams up with his very good boy and very trained German Shepherd Dog. John Reardon, who you might have seen in Arctic Air and Hallmark Movies, stars with his K9 companion the late Diesel vom Burgimwald. They work to solve cases and bring people to justice.
Part of my motivation was in honor of King Charles’ throne speech to Canada that happened on May 27th. Nonetheless, we look forward to seeing more of these programs and checking out others from North of The Border.
Today, America remembers those who sacrificed everything to defend life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. May those who never made it home from war be honored, every day, freedom ringing for everyone. On this day, let us be mindful of those who did come home and face the daily struggle with the trauma and constant violence of war.
I am a big All Elite Wrestling fan, and tonight is the Double or Nothing Pay Per View extravaganza from Glendale, Arizona. I don’t get every PPV because they are $50 each, but something tells me some good stuff is going to happen tonight, so I am splurging a little.
Most folks are focused on the Owen Hart Tournament Finals and the Anarchy In The Arena matches. I think Will Ospreay will win the men’s final and Jamie Hayter will win the women’s final. In The Anarchy In The Arena match, I think Kenny Omega, Swerve Strickland, The Opps and Willow Nightingale will win.
I am also looking to see who will return to action and who will appear for the first time as a new to AEW talent. It’s going to be very exciting. Everything starts at 6:30 for the pre-show and the buy-in matches. I cannot wait to see what happens.
