I am willing to join whatever army/group to preserve and protect the right to life, liberty and happiness for LGBTQ, minorities, women, the poor and the oppressed. I am inspired by Dumbledores Army from Harry Potter. This Hufflepuff is ready for battle.

As Albus Dumbledore said “Help will always be given at Hogwarts to those who ask for it”

Dear Canada

Some American’s might need to crash on your couches for about 4 years or so. Think of it as being a refugee program of sorts. We can learn Oh Canada and hockey.

America, One Week From Today…After The Vote #election2016 #2016vote

America will be a different place one week from today. We will have elected our first woman as President in Hillary Clinton or we will have elected Donald Trump. The race is tightening and people are on edge. One thing we can agree with is that we are all ready for this to be done with. My country is a very divided place at the moment. Whoever is elected will have to unify us somehow, although I don’t see it happening soon. After we vote, what then, who will we be? What will our destiny hold? Many other questions shall be asked too.

It will be interesting to see what happens next Tuesday night as our votes are being counted and the electoral college map gets filled out in blue for Democrats and red for Republicans (thanks to the late Tim Russert of NBC News for that color coding idea a few years ago). In the USA it takes 27o electoral votes to win the Presidency. The popular vote doesn’t always decide the outcome so there is another point of discussion.

Yesterday I voted and I feel good about my ballot. You probably can guess how I voted though.

The next six days will be tense. We shall see how it all shakes out.

Rambling About Election 2016

We have about 500 days until the next presidential election in November 2016. My wife pointed out last night its going to be a very long journey with loads of talk of politics on both sides of the aisle and perhaps some mud slinging. Facebook is going to be one of the worst places to see all the talk about what the candidates are doing and what they are saying. Avoiding Facebook all together is tough for some folks. I am thinking that we will be seeking a refuge from it all online. Perhaps some folks will just take a cyber sabbatical and find other things to do.

I can be political as the next guy but this will be ugly early. We will see the candidates saying things about each other than saying something about themselves. My thought is this really long campaign season will not be in the best interest of the electorate. We will all have some fatigue about the whole process and will be ready to move onto something new.

We might have 25 candidates before its all said and done so that will be a battle royal to see who survives it all. I suppose the only thing we can do is to grin and bear it. It just seems like 2012 was yesterday.
