Six Word Story

Being kind is a good choice.

This Is The Day For Left-Handed People Like Me

August 13th is a day for left-handed people to celebrate what we do to make the world a better place. We are unique and some of us are quirky. To my fellow southpaws, I salute you today. We must hang in there together. Be proud to be lefties.

Let Me Reintroduce Myself

I have been a people pleaser most of my life. Now, not so much. Sometimes bridges need to be burned. Don’t worry I am still a genuine person who strives to be kind. Only these days it’s with some boundaries.

WordPress Listened To The User

It appears WordPress listened to its users and returned to its old pricing schemes/plans. Not too long ago they made some changes that impacted many bloggers who just want to do this as a hobby. Thank goodness they were willing to do this.

For more information check this article out. I hope they will continue to listen to us. https://wordpress.com/blog/2022/07/21/changes-to-our-pricing-plans/

Logging Off Twitter

I decided to log off Twitter for a while. Lots of doom scrolling going on there it is not good for me or anyone. It’s a platform that seems to be getting full of negative stuff. Of course, I will miss the breaking news there, but you know there are other ways of finding out about what’s going on in the world.

The Blogging Landscape Now

I have noticed there are fewer places on the Internet for self-expression such as blogs. At one point and time, there were many places such as Multiply, Yahoo 360, Xanga, Typepad, Livejournal, and the like. Today it seems there are sites that are more dedicated to commerce and selling stuff. Even WordPress.com is going in that direction.

Blogger, one of the OG platforms has not been significantly updated in years. There are platforms such as Squarespace, Wix, and Weebly that have become more business-focused. Indeed the landscape is very different than it was in the 2000s and 2010s. For a deep dive into the history of blogging check out this article from Notre Dame of Maryland University.

Vlogging on YouTube, TikTok and even Instagram has become increasingly popular.

I don’t want to see Instagram and Facebook as the only places for sharing and community. Social media and networking are important. The more outlets the better. Let’s hope for more outlets in the future where old-school blogging still has a place on the web.
