Canada/Michigan 2024 Vacation Pictures (A Slideshow)
The missus and I traveled to Canada for vacation two weeks ago and had a great time. We started our journey on a bus going to Detroit where we visited friends of ours for a couple of days. Then we crossed the border on a Sunday to spend four days in Toronto/Brampton then Niagara Falls.
We visited cool places in Michigan such as The Edsel Ford Estate, Grosse Pointe, and St. Jane’s Catholic Church. During our time in Canada, we found our way to The Eaton Centre, The Royal Museum of Ontario, The Toronto Police Museum, Niagara Falls, Skylon Tower, The Niagara Power Station, Tim Hortons (many times), Canadian Tire, Shoppers Drug Store, and Dollarama.
We also enjoyed some quality time together in two unique Airbnb’s where we could chill out, eat local snacks, and watch plenty of Canadian television. It was great to get away and enjoy some fresh sights, and sounds.
Here are a few pictures from our time away. I hope you enjoy them.
Happy Canada Day 2024!
Yes, I am not Canadian but I love recognizing this important day to a country I am a big fan of. May this be a day of remembering all the good things Canada is about while acknowledging there is still work to be done regarding reconciliation with the peoples of the First Nations. I hope you all enjoy the day however you choose to spend it. Canada always strive to be strong, compassionate, kind, and free for everyone.
Remembering D-Day, France 1944
Eighty years ago thousands of men from all walks of life and from several allied countries stormed the beach at Normandy, France for the largest amphibian operation in history. Thousands died that day and for those who are still living the memory of that day of horror and pain lives on. To all those men there that day, thank you for defending things like freedom, and democracy. You challenged evil and won. Well done troops.
Canadian Politics
Canadians have to pay attention to the politics going on in their country. The poison of American right-wing extremism and MAGA is spreading north of the border. Be aware of what is going on and keep Canadian conservatives accountable for the stuff they are talking about. Pierre Poilievre is not a good person. Also, take care of people on the margins like LGBTQ and others who have enjoyed civil rights for years. I believe in you Canada. I love you.
Veterans Day and Remembrance Day – Thank You For Serving and Lest We Forget

Today veterans who have served in the armed forces of the United States and the Commonwealth of Nations are being remembered and honored. For any man or woman who wore a uniform of service may you always feel the gratitude of your countrymen and women. Your sacrifice means a lot. Thank you for everything.
