Dystopian… for the life of me I was trying to think of that word today as it relates to apocalyptic imagery. It was inspired by the song “It’s The End Of The World” by REM. Granted dystopian and apocalyptic don’t always have to go together but they do seem like good friends. Dystopian or dystopia are words that are not in everyday conversation, at least in my corner of the world and I am extremely glad for it if you know what I mean.
It’s frustrating when you know a word and it won’t seem to make it to your mouth. I suppose I had other things to be worried about and the word dystopia wasn’t all that important at the time.
When I am trying to be serious I am put off by people who don’t take me seriously and choose to chuckle. Sure I have a silly side but in this stage of my life I am a serious person because of the days we live in. It’s not what I have to say is anything more important than the next person but I want to get my point across and to be heard. Everyone wants to be heard, its important to have your say. You never know when it might do something important for someone else.
In this age of devices and technology are we having real, genuine conversations anymore. Other than what you see on chat shows are people engaging in dialog that can make change, make a difference, make sense. It seems that talking and action can be two separate things. It’s interesting how conversations can change things good or bad. So our words have so much power that its necessary to choose them wisely.

I don’t talk as much as I used to but that is still too much, I think. Getting a word in edgewise in some conversations can be difficult though. I am one that likes to fill the space that is void of sound. Communication is important though and requires listening too. I do need to listen more. Talking can be hard when you want try to find the opportunity to share what is on your heart. Sometimes there needs less words and more actions though.
