A Luxury I Can’t Live Without

Daily writing prompt
What’s the one luxury you can’t live without?

Electricity is more of a necessity these days, but when you go without it for a while like many do, it is a definite luxury. This might sound like a first-world problem, but when we lost power last Saturday afternoon, it was not fun not having air conditioning and TV and Internet and access other stuff. So I am going to say electricity is what I can’t live without easily. I am grateful to the linemen and technicians who got our power back on late Sunday morning.

Thursday Thought – Power

I found this silly yet profound. Power is more than just influence its about the stuff that runs your computer, TV, refrigerator and lights. Without electricity none of this stuff we like to do happens, that means no WordPress, no Twitter, no Netflix, no memes. Power has its price in more ways than one.

Wires, Wireless

Wires carry important things
Power, data, voices, the web
They send messages and email
Secrets, scandal and mystery you find upon them.
Good and bad news too.
Wires are a very interesting thing.

The future moves ahead and there are less wires
People are cutting the cord
You can get the secrets, scandal and other stuff now.
Text messages, tweets, video, photos and yes even voices.

Electrical pulses, high voltage, above your head, below your feet.
You can’t cool things down or head things up
Wires are still necessary in the day we live

Even though wireless is creeping ahead.
Poles with wires are still around.
