Yet Another iPhone For The Picking

So, Apple announced a new iPhone today (shouldn’t we be at 20 by now?), and as usual, there are new features, and it costs a lot of money. I must admit I am a long-time Android user, and we get made fun of for being Android users. So I sit here looking in from the outside.

I find it curious that Apple has to release something new every year. They do make a killing off those phones. For Apple, new phones each year are a business decision they have made with some research, and their customers spend a ton on upgrading. It would be interesting to see the collection of phones some users have gathered over the years.

I can upgrade to a newer phone every two years with my Android. I don’t feel like I am missing out on waiting a while longer. Yes, I know not every iPhone user will upgrade every year. But for those who upgrade, doesn’t the whole thing make upgrading your phone less of a special event?

I can say I am an Android guy living in what seems to be an iPhone world. And I won’t understand, and that is OK. The universe of Android phones does great things, just saying.

One Week Without #Facebook

Business-Does-Not-Need-Facebook-Page

So, today is my one week without Facebook anniversary. I have been just fine without it. Sure stuff is going on there I wonder about but in reality, I am learning that I just don’t need to know what is going on with everyone all the time. Avoiding drama is good for one’s mental health. As I wrote about earlier there is a Fear Of Missing Out but as you go along that fear is less and less.

Perhaps Facebook has told us that you can’t live without it but I know a few folks who are doing just that and many of them are fellow bloggers. Facebook can be a strong influence in terms of what is posted there. I am just glad there is one less thing to worry about. Let’s see how long this lasts, maybe it can be something long-term. We shall see.

Mark Zuckerberg I don’t need you telling me what to do! 🙂

FB-FOMO (Facebook Fear Of Missing Out)

FOMO is the Fear Of Missing Out and its a real thing for some people. Add Facebook to that and you get FB-FOMO and that is why people stay so long. For me, I just need to break away to minimize the drama and all the stuff going on. Having a fear of missing someone’s posts or breaking personal news is not always a good thing. Maybe not knowing everything is a healthy way to approach life. Also, Facebook has some serious baggage like ads and how it tracks your activities in other places you go to. So I will miss some things but I think I am freer to express myself. So as we go along I will share more about what’s going on here and there during my self-imposed Facebook exile.
