Me And Nostalgia

Daily writing prompt
What makes you feel nostalgic?

We are in the Christmas season which is a hard time for me. Nostalgia is a powerful thing. Holiday memories come from a Christmas tree, church services, songs, food, gatherings, and more. All of those things can stir up emotions.

My father, grandfather, and grandmother are no longer with us. I miss them very much. They were a huge part of the holidays of the past and I so wish they were still with us.

Sure, nostalgia is present in other things and can trigger feelings under the surface. It’s like we all have things that make us pine for the things of the past. Nostalgia can be a great thing but it comes with a cost to your heart.

Happy Festivus, For The Rest Of Us

Festivus is a secular holiday celebrated on December 23 as an alternative to the perceived pressures and commercialism of the Christmas season. Rituals such as the airing of grievances and fetes of strength are part of this great holiday inspired by the TV show “Seinfeld”. May your Festivus pole be glorious and grand.
