This movie is just great, it’s cute and a reminder of the cartoon series in the 1950’s and 1960’s. Ty Burrell of TV’s “Modern Family” does a great job as the voice of Mr. Peabody. There is action, adventure and very quick humor.

#TBT Throwback Thursday – The Breakfast Club
Thirty-two years ago The Breakfast Club assembled for the first time and a movie classic built on timeless teen angst and coming of age was born. This movie came out when I was a teenager back in the 1980’s and it is a movie for all generations. The video above features the last scenes of the movie to the music of Simple Minds “Don’t You Forget About Me”.

The Divergent Series: Allegiant – It’s A Good Flick

We saw part one of Allegiant the final chapter of the Divergent series and it’s a good flick. Sometimes splitting up a finale can help with story telling and in this case two parts will mean there is not as much of a rush to get to the end. Shailene Woodley and Theo James shine in their performances and Jeff Daniels makes a great performance as the new bad guy. I like where the story is good because it’s a cautionary tale of the devil you know is better than the devil you don’t. There is also the notion that perfect people in a perfect society don’t always work out.
The 2016 Academy Awards
Tonight is the annual rite of giving and receiving awards in the movie biz. Each year the Oscars let us dream a little and enjoy something fun.
Yeah, I admit I like seeing beautiful people give each other awards once or twice a year. It’s a very important part of the culture of our country. The Oscar’s offer a much needed diversion from the everyday. This year the election is playing out like a horror flick so we need something to take the politics off the screen for a few hours.
Pride and Prejudice and Zombies – A Interesting Flick

I am not a big fan of the whole Zombie thing but this movie intrigued me and it was also our Valentine’s Day movie. Lily James of Downton Abbey and Matt Smith who played the 11th Doctor in Doctor Who are both in this mashup of Jane Austen’s great literary work and an adaptation by Seth Grahame-Smith. It’s a commentary on contemporary culture in the regency era of English history. There is a lot of violence and action with a little period romance thrown in for fun. Go check it out, you will enjoy it if you can stomach a lot of blood and fighthing.
The Color Of A Hero
I don’t understand why it’s always a pretty white gal and guy who are in the movie to save the day? To me it seems like diversity is a strength and there are many capable actors and actresses of color who can be the super hero. It really doesn’t send a good message when its all about the brave and the beautiful. Can the brave be average looking? Is there a rule that the hero has to be a hunk or the heroine supposed to be hot? Also do the heroes have to be always slender, like they might need to eat a sandwich or something.
I really don’t mean to be judgemental like I mentioned in my previous post but this is a real world problem that spills out into the cinema and on TV. We could say it’s the writers who make this happen but just think if Harry Potter was of Asian heritage or if Katniss Everdeen were African American. Maybe there needs to be a change in how the world is looked at. Heroes come in all packages and shapes and colors. It’s kind of how we were made. Just saying.
