My friend Rev. Kelvin Sauls tuned me into the Winan family while at Hiwassee College. Their message of change is needed in times like these.
This song was released in 1961 and in my mind is one of the great oldies in rock and roll history. It is a up tempo song with some awesome storytelling.
Vanessa Williams is a former Miss America and one heck of a singer. This song “The Comfort Zone” speaks to us about being there in a place of personal pleasure and what it can do to you.
“Able” from Hidden Figures: The Album by Pharrell Williams. It’s a great song to get you going on a Monday or any other day for that matter.
The Golden Girls was a TV situation comedy that ran 1985-1992 on NBC Television. It was about the life adventures of four older women living in a condo in south Florida. For many it holds a special place in their hearts, including mine. So this is a little different for Music Monday a TV theme song…it won’t be the last time either.
Thank you for being a friend, yeah you!
Music Monday has returned after a small absence. This is a great one to return on.
Lin-Manuel Miranda and team have created a great musical about American History featuring Alexander Hamilton and Aaron Burr. Hamilton is great art in full display. I would love to see this musical but tickets are hard to come by and they are expensive which speaks to the demand for this Broadway show.
Somehow this song is kind of relevant to many. But I think hope is more powerful. From 1986 this is Bruce Hornsby and The Range with “The Way It Is”
In the spirit of my fiddle picture I present to you Dexy’s Midnight Runners “Come On Eileen” which has a great fiddle arrangement throughout the tune. The fiddle is one of the great instrument in pop music because it can add some spark to any song. This particular song is one of the greats of the 1980’s.
