International Day of Peace – September 21, 2016

poster-large

Each year the International Day of Peace is observed around the world on 21 September. The General Assembly has declared this as a day devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace, both within and among all nations and peoples.

The Day’s theme for 2016 is “The Sustainable Development Goals: Building Blocks for Peace.”

My friends lets resolve to spend our lives seeking peace and love. We must reject violence, racism, bias, homophobia and hate. Our world is a fragile place where we all live together on the same planet. It must start in our hearts and spill out into our communities. It’s time to build bridges of hope and reconciliation to make our world a better place. For more information visit the United Nations page at International Day of Peace.

Happy Friday My Friends and Fellow Bloggers!

Welcome to Friday everyone. Let’s have a great day. Rock on!

A Ramble About Keeping Your Cool In The Lean Moments

To make anything happen when you are short on resources requires ingenuity and team work. I have been reminded of how you have to inspire others and to remain positive when things are not optimal in the situation you are in. For many the reaction when you are behind the eight ball is to panic but you can’t do that. Cooler heads will always prevail.

You have to be a little fearless and experimental to get through the obstacles of the moment. Now it’s OK to be a little afraid as long as you don’t show those cards to anyone. Confidence is a significant asset too (something I am working on) but most importantly keeping your focus on the task at hand can lead to good things. Always keep your chin up your eyes looking forward and find your motivation to move forward.

American Football Now Happening

For those of you who are connected on WordPress, Twitter, Facebook and other social networks please know that it’s American football season. Tomorrow begins the National Football League season while college/university and high school games have been underway for a couple of weeks. Some of you won’t fully understand what is going on considering European and American versions of football are plenty different. Know that all of football will be over in February when Super Bowl 51 takes place. It’s one of the most beloved sports in the USA and if you want to know more just ask. Thanks!

Our History of Things That Get Older Along Side Us

As you may or may not know I am 47. Yes age is just a number but when you hear that your favorite music, movie, TV show or something like that was released or opened 20, 30 or 40 years ago it makes your bones and soul hurt a little. Everything gets older, not just human beings.

Changes On The Job

Whenever there is sudden change on the job it can be unsettling. It happened to me this week when my team experienced a shakeup in leadership (not me because I am team leader). Decisions are made outside ones sphere of influence and there is nothing you can do about it. You get through it by breathing, doing your best and most importantly being a team player.

There is also the fact that you will have to play by someone else’s rules and having a good attitude can help you navigate the seas of changes that will most likely happen. Staff turnover can be a challenge to deal with but it can be a great opportunity to show what you can do and to impress some people up the food chain. In many cases thee was nothing you could do to change the situation. You have to be tough and calm too because the road ahead can get bumpy.

Best of luck to all who are experiencing this too. Hang in there. Rock on!
