Ramadan Kareem

Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, observed by Muslims worldwide as a month of fasting, prayer, reflection, and community. I wish those who are celebrating love and light this Ramadan. May Allah bless you and those you love this holy month.

Public Service Announcement – Daylight Saving Time Begins Sunday, March 10th.

It’s that time of year when many people will “spring forward” to Daylight Saving Time on Sunday March 10th. We “lose” an hour of sleep and then it messes with our body clocks for a couple of days. That is kind of like jetlag if you ask me. I am ready for this “spring forward” “fall back” thing to end once and for all. It’s stupid if you ask me. This will end when we go back to Standard Time on Sunday, November 3, 2024.

My Higher Education Adventure

Daily writing prompt
What colleges have you attended?

I started my college journey at Chattanooga State Technical Community College in 1988. I flunked out. In 1990, I got a second chance at Hiwasseee College, where I graduated with an Associate in Arts Degree. From there, I went to Lincoln Memorial University for one semester. I discovered I wasn’t happy there and transferred to Middle Tennessee State University (a school I never thought I would find myself at) where I graduated in 1994 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mass Communications and minors in Sociology and Political Science.

Throwback Thursday – Thunderbird Inn, Savannah

This was from four years ago at the Thunderbird Inn in lovely Savannah, Georgia. It is a really cool place to stay with an awesome name. Thanks for the pix Soup Diva.

Lazy Days

Daily writing prompt
Do lazy days make you feel rested or unproductive?

When I take a day off I cannot just lay about all day. I need to do some things so that I can say I got some stuff accomplished around the house. I don’t bring work home with me ever. We have a dog and he needs to go out to do his business so being lazy isn’t an option. I guess I just need to learn to relax other than that.

Why Do I Blog? Because It’s Fun!

Daily writing prompt
Why do you blog?

I blog because it’s a fun and creative outlet for me. The cool thing about blogging is that you can make connections with people from all over the world. We get to share a little of our corner of the world and what we think about stuff. Blogs are a digital extension of our real-world lives. Every post is a snapshot to borrow a photography term of what is going on at any moment.

Those posts can be crafted into a series where you have the opportunity to share thoughts about a universe of things. I love to blog and it’s cool to know that I have a potential audience of billions of people. My official slogan is “Keep on blogging” and I say that because the community needs your voice.
