A Tribute To Russell Morash – A Public TV Icon

I am a big fan of the Public TV series “This Old House”. Its creator Russell Morash is an icon who also created many how-to shows on Boston’s WGBH public TV station including “The French Chef” from Julia Child. I am going to be bold to say that without Russell Morash the modern home improvement and food TV scene would not be the same. He was influential and creative. Russell died on Thursday at age 88. There will never be anyone like him again.

Bridgerton Season 3, It’s Going To Be Good

OK, I am watching Bridgerton season 3. I like the show because it shows what a progressive view of Regency England could look like with inclusion, body positivity, and equality. I like this take on alternate history because it makes you think a little.

Women have a heavy influence in this world of patriarchy but still have to live within the patriarchal rules where they need a man and his money. But if you ask me, they do just fine on their own.

This season it’s Penelope and Colin who take front and center. This is a character-driven show and I like that. There are lots of stories going on and I think that’s what makes it fun and interesting. This season will be in two parts which is not a bad way to do TV.

Quote Of The Day

I like cop shows. You learn things.

Dale Sheldon (played by Craig T. Nelson) of Young Sheldon

Farewell “Pee Wee” Paul Reubens

Paul Reubens played Pee Wee Herman in “Pee Wee’s Playhouse”. He entertained a generation and more of people just looking for someone who could help them find belonging and some fun. Paul Died of cancer on 7/30/2023. Rest in power, Paul. The world is less fun without you.

Writers and Actors In Solidarity #SAG #AFTRA #WGA #Strike

Now SAG-Aftra is on Strike alongside the Writers Guild Of America

We love our shows. You know the stuff you like. It takes writers and actors to make those shows come to life. Actors and writers are now on strike to secure their future which is complicated by streaming, artificial intelligence, and other issues I don’t pretend to understand.

I am a fan of TV and always have been. I support the people who turn words into flesh, and the people who make magic in front of and behind the camera. May the writers and actors have a secure future and may they be compensated fairly and equitably. I hope all parties involved can negotiate a fair settlement so that actors and writers can return to work as soon as possible. Invest in your labor force and you will be rewarded.

Geek Thursday – Star Trek: Strange New Worlds and The Orville: New Horizons #StarTrek #TheOrville

Science Fiction is awesome and tonight is a double feature of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds and the season premiere of The Orville: New Horizons. The Orville is a loving satire of Star Trek. Strange New Worlds is a prequel to the original Star Trek series. Going into space albeit via television is fun.
