People with voices want to be heard. Sometimes the issue is about listening. Noise can make it hard to be heard. When people speak they have a strong desire to be understood for comprehension for respect. Protesters want their message to get across to those who they hope will receive it. To be heard is to be loved and cared about. It’s always good to let those in your life know they are heard too.

Mentioned In Good Company
A couple of bloggers recently mentioned my blog in their blogs and I was very honored to be among great company. I have been mentioned by other bloggers too and I thank them for their interest in what I do.
This is what Jason @ Opinionated Man had to say.
Tony Burgess – https://tonyburgess1969.net/
I’ll be very disappointed if Tony isn’t as great of a guy as I think he is. His posts are so unassuming and his humor strikes me in the right way. I’ve enjoyed my connection with this blogger and I would suggest his website to any new WordPress user.
This is what Jess @ Shopgirl Anonymous had to say
Blogger of the Year:Tony Burgess
When I first saw Tony’s blog I was at a loss, his posts were short, and at the time I would have called them status updates more than I would blog posts. But for over a year I have followed him to work, enjoyed delicious dinners with he and his amazing wife. I have gone to the movies with him, and enjoyed the sites of (one of my favorite spots in Tennessee) Chattanooga all from the comforts of my couch in my living room. Tony is active in supporting his followers, and feels more like a friend and less like just another subscription on your blog wall. He is your break from monotonous poetry and overstated advice columns, he is real, authentic, and a breath of fresh air. He is the guy, that everybody knows his name, you find some exotic new blog that’s way off the beaten path, chances are you will find his comments there too.
One thing about my blog is that I post about the world around me and what is going on in my head. Having come from Tumblr I have taken the concept of smaller, shorter posts here so you can visit, read and get on to the next post of mine or someone else. I want to thank Jess and Jason among others who have appreciated my brand of blogging.
Four things I would advise any blogger to do and none of these things is rocket science or brain surgery.
- Post frequently – It builds an audience and keeps your skills sharp
- Be authentic – Be yourself
- Be the star of their own blog – Your blog is about you first
- Keep on blogging – Never stop blogging
WordPress Question
Are there bots posing as blogs on WordPress? I get followed by blogs who have no content or are nothing but ad sites posing as blogs. I don’t wanna be followed by these blogs where there is nothing going on or perhaps they are just data mining…I hope I am making sense here.
Daily Prompt: Tempted
Being tempted is a very human thing. Life is a buffet of choices that provides plenty of temptations whether it be another cookie or a really fancy gadget or buying a car you really can’t afford. Everyone is tempted by something or another. There is a song that has a line “tempted by the fruit of another” and that sort of temptation is what gets people in trouble and can wreck lives. Sometimes we lead each other into temptation because we want what the other guy has so that means keeping up with the Joneses and we all know how that turns out. Resisting being tempted is easier said than done.
Daily Prompt: Ovation
It’s nice to get praised for doing good things. An ovation is a way for people to give praise to those who’s work is of quality. Some people get a standing ovation when they have put on a most excellent performance. Everyone needs an ovation of sorts for the good things they do. If we reward good behavior and actions then people will continue to do that sort of thing. Even if you don’t grace a stage you deserve an ovation for your contribution to the greater good.
Getting Personal With WordPress.com
I upgraded my blog to the Personal Plan on WordPress.com today. This means more storage (6 gigs instead of 3 gigs), ads will no longer appear on my page and my domain is active until November of next year. All of that cost me under $16 for the year, you can’t beat that. As a person who runs a personal blog I have found that I don’t need every bell and whistle and I have no plans on making any money from my site. Having the fine folks at Automattic/Wordpress.com take care of all the heavy lifting behind the scenes is something I am happy about. What this means is that I am extending my presence here for the long term so you get more of my special brand of nerdiness and dorkiness. Upgrading is a good thing.
