The Comments, Read At Your Own Peril

I try to leave positive comments on blogs and even on Facebook when possible. These days comments can be a landmine that can hurt your heart and mind. We live in a time when everyone has a pulpit and something to say. Feedback is great but it can also be surprising. It hurts even more when a friend speaks from a place of fear and ignorance. Being online isn’t for sissies anymore that is for sure. Kindness I hope still means something but sometimes you aren’t sure if its the thing to do anymore. Read the comments at your own peril, if you dare.

  1. This is my personal experience as someone who takes a public stand on controversial issues. I consider myself a Conservative, if we use the traditional meaning of conservative as one who wants to preserve the traditions and principles of a culture or nation.

The United States has a progressive tradition. It why both parties
have women in the race for President.

People who leave verbally abusive comments are trying to bully you into silence.

    Block them.

    And move on.

What’s are the people who may not leave comments because a thoughtful post inspires a composition more complex than
    ‘you suck.’

I often don’t know what I think about a post until I’ve thought about it.

There are all kinds of nasty people who thrive on anonymity; who make baseless accusations, who will work to exclude you from the community
    because they find you threatening.|

    Never give them attention.

They aren’t worth a second of your life.

  2. I find that some people are just tactless and not trying to be mean. Where as others are just thoughtless idiots who spend their time trying to hurt other people and those people need to be blocked.

Although, as an example of what could happen, here in the UK a national paper took comments off their facebook page from a story about refugees coming to a town in Scotland, the comments were not only racist but vile, so the newspaper printed the names and photos of those people in their actual newspaper
