Back To Life, Back To Reality

Tomorrow the holidays will be over for most folks. Some businesses observe New Years on Monday while others say it’s back to work. All the fun stuff is going away and we are going back into reality and that can suck. I suppose the best way to get back to regular routine is to just do regular routine. Get up, get ready, go to work, get home when your shift is done. The holidays haven’t had the same flair this year for some reason. Perhaps its the world situation that has creeped in with how 2016 was such a horrible year.

I have a 3-day weekend so I won’t be going back to work until Tuesday. Then I am taking Friday off because I need a bit of a break after a very tough late November through December at work.

So as real life begins to reestablish itself as the normal perhaps we can find time to have moments of holiday whenever we can. Have a good return to the office, wherever that might be.

  1. Happy New Year! Our office was surprised when Corporate announced that we fell under the mandatory closing / PTO rule for December 23rd, December 26th, and January 2nd. For me, I decided to take Friday the 30th off as well. I felt I needed the breather, and I was right. Now, I feel refreshed and grateful for a job that gives generous PTO. It will be an early start on Tuesday, but I’m motivated and ready for whatever 2017 brings.

  2. I was lucky enough to have a ten day break from work. (I go back to work on Tues)…great timing since the school children are home for Christmas break and don’t go back to classes until a week from tomorrow….I really needed the rest….and it will have to do me until the summer. I sure will miss being able to leisurely read all kinds of posts and write without having to fit it in between getting home from work and going to sleep (which comes early). I’m not sure if I mentioned that I am a social worker/mental health clinician who works on the Child and Youth team….I love counseling, but it is really emotionally taxing at times (especially intense in Nov for some reason)….lots of children and families struggling….but, the beautiful part is, they are the lucky ones who have the courage to reach out for help….and, they inspire me and reinforce my belief that hardships are not evidence of pathology….hardships are a consequence of the human condition….and, survivors seek the light….anyway, I don’t know why I said all that….but, there it is…. take care….I so enjoy learning more and more about you….you are a lovely, lovely soul πŸ™‚

    1. Yes! There is a poem in there. Add this:
All we need is an attitude filled with gratitude. Then everyday IS Christmas πŸ˜€

If Christmas is not your thing insert holiday of your choice and celebrate daily πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰
