I am coming to a conclusion that I need and crave the company of like-minded people. Defending ones beliefs and opinions constantly is exhausting. Sure its good to have people who challenge you but I am kind of weary of the fear some have these days. It is really hard to be a progressive in a place where some folks are holding on to the old ways in a very aggressive way. I try to be open-minded but sometimes you have to make your stand to advance the cause of the least of these, the less fortunate, the person who is marching to the beat of their own drummer, the LGBTQ person, the people who want access to life, liberty and happiness. Yes I am a liberal and I wear that title proudly. May God bless and keep us all as we each try to figure this thing called life out.

I am a progressive liberal and proud to be a lefty. I do not mind being called a person who cares about the people. I am for helping others. I am not for enriching the wealthy nor do I in support the corporation over the needs of the people. I think for too long the word liberal was used as a taunt. Well it can’t be used as it is not an insult. It is a badge of honor. Thanks. Hugs

I’m a proud liberal living in the red state of Florida. Hell, my husband is even opposed to my politics. I won’t be muzzled, though.

Amen Tony!! The Trolls and Bigots always ready to send flames are the reason why on certain posts I Close Comments. Seems these divisive people are always on the attack! Arguing does take a toll on you. I’ve even had to Block certain wackos from commenting on my WordPress Blog. I don’t understand why they get all excited if I write a Blog Post that Pro-Black that does not mean I’m anti-white. I write from my experience as a Black Woman living in this country. It is not a personal attack on all white people. My Voice shall never be silenced mainly because the USA must own up to its faults, flaws and ugliness.

It’s hard for people of color in this country we live in. As a white man who is an ally of people of color and LGBTQ folks it can be difficult to deal with people who don’t understand why I care so much. Well love one another is why.

I know what you mean. I live in SW Virginia and liberals here are an oddity. We like-minded people are getting together more now. We have diverse opinions, backgrounds, and beliefs, but we talk to one another respectfully. It’s a start.
