One month ago I went on a Facebook fast for personal reasons. It’s been a great experience where I have cleared my head and focused on other areas of expression like my blog. I remain connected on Twitter and Instagram. I don’t regret leaving one bit, but I know a return is in sight sometime in the future. So far so good though and I’ll go back when I am good and ready. Until then, steady on as they say.

We quit Facebook some time ago. There is simply too much spying and hacking going on there and we haven’t wilted away without it.

Last year I took a break from social media for thirty days. I realized how much time I was wasting. I’m back on – but not hourly checking.

I’ve been intrigued and pleased when reading about your FB fast. I made a 90% exit over 2 years ago. A heart condition put me in the hospital and a posted photo of my room on discharge was noted to have no trigger from friends who seemed to be relying much on communicating via FB. I continued linking my WordPress post to it – then at a party a friend said ” Oh, you have a blog?”. () I’ve had a blog site for 7 years.
Your fast and it’s results makes me feel reassured about the position I’ve taken on the matter!

I have lots of friends who are on FB and I know there are lots of things going on with them I am missing out on. However there is only so much you can take in.

You’re right. I guess my frustration is that I was experiencing some friends that have chosen FB as largely the only way they communicate or attempt to stay connected.
And I have to admit , my circle is small, so my perspective is altered some.

Hey nice to see that many people this year took the challenge of quitting facebook. I was also influenced to do so. The process was liberating. I got so much time for my other things. I built a habit that has given me 10 times more return and that is reading. I have stopped using Facebook since, I have an account but I rarely go through it maybe once a week.
Do check out my blog. There are some good traveling content which you might like. Do follow if it interests you. Thanks 🙂
