Hi there, my name is Tony Burgess (my friends call me T-Bird) from Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA. I am a believer, bleeding heart, idealist, and blogger. I'm married to Laura the Soup Diva and a dog dad to Frankie, Cody, and Mikey. Daily I work for a blood bank recruiting donors. My blog is where I chronicle and curate the sacred, serious, and silly things in my life. I am a member of The Episcopal Church. Thank you for connecting with me. Grace, peace, and love!

Quote Of The Day

America isn’t the way it is because he’s president. He’s president because America is the way it is.

Dinner Tonight – Massaman Curry

The Soup Diva is working her magic in our kitchen tonight, preparing something warm and comforting on a cold night. It’s a great Thai dish.

Celebrating A Dreamer and A Doer – Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Today is Martin Luther King, Jr. Day in the United States. He was a minister, a leader, a dreamer, and a civil rights icon. I feel like it’s more important than ever to remember all the things he did and to continue the fight for equality, justice, and love. The people of the world are better because he lived what he preached and made things better for so many. His work continues on in those he influenced. We need that work now more than ever. Thank you, Dr. King, for putting hands and feet to your faith.

Something About Feelings

I have talked about feelings before, and I have a few more things to say.

Everyone has feelings. They are wonderful, but they can also be a problem. I struggle with my feelings because I feel very deeply about things. A lot of times I don’t know how to manage it out of fear and perhaps some societal norms that men have about the subject.

Dealing with one’s feelings and emotions takes work, and I don’t always do my best there. Knowing your feelings requires you to sit with them and hope for the best. All I know is that “everybody hurts” sometimes, and that time can heal how you feel.

A Thai Soup For Dinner

My Missus the Soup Diva made a tasty, savory Thai soup. It was a bowl full of warmth and love on a Saturday night.

Flashback Friday – Me in 2016

Here is a flashback to 2016 with me donating blood at the blood bank I work for. Some things never change.
