Hi there, my name is Tony Burgess (my friends call me T-Bird) from Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA. I am a believer, bleeding heart, idealist, and blogger. I'm married to Laura the Soup Diva and a dog dad to Frankie, Cody, and Mikey. Daily I work for a blood bank recruiting donors. My blog is where I chronicle and curate the sacred, serious, and silly things in my life. I am a member of The Episcopal Church. Thank you for connecting with me. Grace, peace, and love!

A New To Us Desktop Computer

7471a9ae-4f24-4459-b59a-928203113b8f_1-e63c9f2492f4f3dadd3e97fd6bd8b3aa-jpeg-8cb4ecc3c32768ea9be534e2444c608771822816-optim-180x180We got a new-to-us desktop computer and I have been setting it up and making it our own. I am dual booting Windows 7 and Xubuntu Linux…yes I am that geeky. My reasons for doing so are to have at least one computer running Microsoft Windows (which you still need for some things) and to have my favorite distribution of the Open Source operating system.

There is something about blogging and writing from a desktop that is much better than a laptop or a device such as a smart phone. As a matter of fact I am writing this post from the Linux OS on the desktop and it’s quite nice. I find you can concentrate and have purpose to your writing. Yeah it might sound old-school like a typewriter but you know if it makes my posts better than so-be-it.

The funny thing about this system is that it’s a compilation of a Dell Optiplex computer, a HP keyboard a Radio Shack Mouse a Logitech webcam, Cannon printer, Samsung monitor and powered speakers I have had for a few years. It all works together which is the nice thing.

I’m Back…Well I Wasn’t Gone That Long, Or Was I?

Hey kids, I have returned after a one day absence. Yesterday I had a Hiwassee College alumni association meeting out of town and my sister celebrated her 40th birthday yesterday. You know one day doesn’t seem like a lot but in social media it is forever so it seems. I hope you all are having a great weekend so far.

Status Update

The weekend is finally here. My week was busy and challenging. I will be somewhat active but I’m going to chill out when possible. I hope you all will have a good one.

A Positive Politics-Free Weekend, What Do You Say?

politicsfreeI declare this weekend as politics free weekend. No political posts, let’s change the mood and tenor and atmosphere. Only pop culture and stuff that makes you smile. Let’s have a spooky Halloween weekend that can be a diversion to the every day we have faced recently. I am sure folks from across the world would be grateful. Make it positive, light-hearted and other stuff. What do you say?

Happy Friday Good People!

Yep, it’s Friday and we are all happy, right? Have a great day and enjoy your upcoming weekend. If you have to work on Saturday and Sunday, thank you for your labour. Grace, peace and love everyone!
