Sometimes ones problems need to be held up the light of perspective and satire. “Weird Al” Yankovic does a great job of that. First World Problems makes me realize life ain’t all that bad in the grand scheme of things. Tomorrow it will have been one week since seeing him in concert.
“Whip It” is one of Devo’s most popular songs. The video is just weird in all the right ways. It along with other songs inspired “Weird Al” Yankovic’s “Dare To Be Stupid”.
This story originally aired on WDEF TV 12, Chattanooga on July 5, 1991. It talks about how vinyl records are being replaced by cassettes and compact discs.
A lot of people are going back to vinyl. Records and record players are becoming more popular after being absent for a long time. This report from 1991 might have been a bit premature as to the demise of the LP. For many audiophiles records can’t be beat.
Tonight I am going with some friends to see “Weird Al” Yankovic in concert at Chattanooga’s historic Tivoli Theater. The master of parody and satire has made an impression on the entertainment industry. I have been a huge fan of his for years and this is going to be a great show. His artistry is to take a song and make it his own and to put a unique spin on it. These two videos show his ability to make great music and put pictures with them.
