All it took was one Jurassic Park movie to make me realize that no dinosaurs should ever be brought back. Not even the “cute” ones because that is a slippery slope that we should never slide down. They are best studied from the safety of paleontology and science books. Dinosaurs should remain extinct. We do however have birds that are a descendant of the raptor.
To quote Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum) from the first Jurassic Park movie, “Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should.”
Yesterday, congress in the USA voted to defund Public Media in America. That means that PBS and NPR, which made up a small part of the total budget, will not receive aid from the government and that will impact Public TV and Radio stations from coast to coast. This is a problem because many of those stations provide an essential informational and instructional service to communities where there isn’t a good commercial option. Everything from news to Sesame Street will be impacted. This move is an act of political aggression if you ask me.
Then came word yesterday that Late Night with Stephen Colbert is ending after May 2026. The whole show has been canceled, and that means an essential voice in calling truth to power will go silent. Stephen Colbert always spoke truth to power, and in these days that is so needed. The parent company of his network, CBS says it’s a cost-cutting move, but that isn’t true if you ask me it’s political for sure. Colbert is a decent man with a wicked sense of humor that will be sorely missed.
It’s like some folks can’t handle the truth that comes with abusing power. To me, we are on a slippery slope, and that is never a good thing. The whole thing is wrong, and I am not happy about any of this. Now we wait for the next shoe to drop, impacting the culture of the USA.
Today, my favorite professional wrestling league holds its biggest event of the year, AEW ALL IN: TEXAS. It will originate from Globe Life Field in Arlington, which is a baseball stadium that is home of the Texas Rangers. ALL IN has been hyped for months, and it’s leading up to some professional wrestling and a little razzle-dazzle too!
The three big matches will be a Texas Death Match featuring champion Jon Moxley vs. challenger Hangman Adam Page for the All Elite Wrestling Men’s World Championship. The AEW Women’s World Championship is on the line with champion Toni Storm vs. TBS champion Mercedes Mone. In sport’s greatest rivalry, AEW International Champion Kenny Omega will face off against his biggest foe Continental Champion Kazuchika Okada for the AEW Unified Championship.
There will be other big matches with big stakes, including the AEW World Tag Team Championship as well as Men’s and Women’s Casino Gauntlet matches.
I have been waiting for this for weeks. This is going to be an event for the history books. It will be emotional, violent, and full of excitement. LFG fellow SICKOS!!!!
For the moment, I am done with renovations of my blog. I am using Twenty-Fourteen, which is an eleven-year old WordPress theme, to get the job done. It’s fun to take an old theme and soup it up with some current features to make it just work.
I have been running Microsoft Windows exclusively on my home desktop computer since I got it several months ago. Windows has served me well at work and at home but I got the itch to dual boot operating systems on my computer so I installed Ubuntu Budgie which is an open source Linux based operating system that works a lot like Windows and looks a little like the Mac OSX.
This Dell Optiplex 7010 is the same computer I have at home and on my desk at work.
Both OS’s have their strong points but like Hannah Montana I wanted the best of both worlds. Linux is much more customizable because it is open source. Windows has a rich application platform and I need it for home productivity and there are things that it runs that Ubuntu Budgie does not.
In a way it allows me to have two somewhat different computers in one. This is going to give me flexibility and a little bit of fun. As a matter of fact I am writing this post on Ubuntu Budgie.
