Something About Burnout

I am burned out. I have been for a long time. Likewise, I imagine many of us are burned out on life. Here is a great graphic The Soup Diva shared on Facebook. This illustrates burnout in a very comprehensive way.

Something About Being Weird

Just in case you didn’t realize, I am a weirdo. Yep, 100%. Maybe each of us is weird in our own way. One thing about being weird is the things in life that makes one happy. Sometimes being weird means that finding people who share in your weirdness isn’t easy. I don’t think being weird is a choice, it’s how you are wired, it is core to who you are.

My friends, embrace what makes you different. It’s OK to march to the beat of a different drummer. I have found that weird things, media, people, and other stuff helps me cope with this world we live in.

I think more places need weird, quirky, unconventional, artistic people to make it better. Not being tied to the way others think is freedom. It’s about being authentic and not hiding things in a bushel.

To my fellow weirdos, I am with you. We are kin. We are community.

Something About The Impact Of Opinions

Everyone is entitled to their opinions. But when those opinions come from a place of harm or hate, then it goes into something more dangerous.

I see racism, homophobia, transphobia, Islamophobia and antisemitism as being very harmful. Those systems of hate are dangerous to people who are our friends and neighbors. I do not abide any of that. We cannot let the opinions of people who come from a dark place to create chaos. If you are keeping up, people who are speaking out are finding themselves in danger.

It’s time to show love to one another and to have the opinions that welcome, include and promote understanding. It’s the only way we will survive. Love your neighbor and yourself while you are at it.

Something About Stephen and Jimmy

Stephen Colbert and Jimmy Kimmel are heroes. Calling out the madness that is America is needed now more than ever. We need their voices to tell the stories of this country at this time.

Colbert’s show was cancelled last month. Jimmy Kimmel was pulled off-air due to comments about Charlie Kirk on last night’s show.

This has gone far enough, but I am not sure what to do. Freedom is on the line here, folks.

Something About The Land

In my trip to Montana, Wyoming, Idaho, Alberta and British Columbia, I discovered that indigenous reservations and national parks should be defended and protected from any change. They are ancient lands that deserve to be preserved from harm and should never be taken from the people and wildlife who call it home because they have had enough taken from them.

Something About Cuts To Public Media

I’ve said it before that cutting funding to NPR and PBS is a horrible thing. They are worth every penny in making our communities better, more informed, and connected. My local public media stations WTCI-PBS and WUTC-NPR in Chattanooga, Tennessee are vital to creating a culture where everyone can learn and grow. Without public media America is certainly not great.
