Letter To An American Gun Lover

In light of the shootings in San Bernadino yesterday I though John Pavlovitz’s post was pitch perfect. No more shootouts today.

BulletsFlat2If you’re an American gun lover, I’m not going to argue with you today.

I’m not going to exchange news articles and opinion pieces and stat graphics.

I’m not going to absorb lazy, tired platitudes about people killing people or about heart problems.

I’m not going to respond to personal attacks or allegations of my disregard for your personal freedoms.

I’m not going to debate which acts of terrorism are worth decrying and which worth justifying.

I’m not going to compare body counts and skin colors and shooter’s names.

I’m not going to trade snarky insults or angry tirades or verbal jousts.

I’m not going to play one religion against another in ascribing culpability.

I’m not going to listen to critiques that I’ve become “too political” over something that to me is far greater than politics.

I’m not going to engage in violence with you as a way of protesting violence.

Hallmark Christmas Movie Cookie Game

I love Hallmark Channel Christmas movies, I do. This post is a great idea when watching those highly romantic and highly sappy made-for-TV flicks.

Hallmark christmas drinking Game

One of my favorite Christmas traditions is sitting down with a hot cup of coffee after dinner and flipping to the Hallmark channel to indulge myself in some romantic Christmas movies. Call me crazy, but I really do enjoy these predictable movies. I say “predictable” because well, they are. Everyone knows the girl and guy are going to get together in the end. Frankly, that’s why I feel so relaxed while watching them!

I’ve come up with a little game to play while watching any Hallmark Christmas movie. I’d call it a drinking game, but I feel like the holidays should be spent somewhat sober. Instead, I’m calling it a cookie game. Every time you check off something on the list I’m about to give you, you get to eat a Christmas cookie. Should be easy, right?

The San Bernadino Shootings

I’m watching news of the San Bernadino mass shootings today on CNN and it has me feeling very sad and a little scared for the people there. A facility that helps people with mental challenges was attacked for a reason we don’t know yet. This is yet another mass shooting in our country. It is saddening that we have such a problem with guns and violence that seems to be the norm these days.

My friends the killings have to stop. I am not a fan of guns and I think some people own them to give them a sense of power and because of paranoia. Others have guns for sport and protection either reason leaves us living in a wild west situation. There is no excuse for the shootings today or any day. Can we give peace a real chance in our country? I sure hope so.

A Thought For The Day

The terror within should concern us more than the terror in distant places. Be safe today good people.

Flowers can say I #forgive you. They can mean a fresh start. #AdventWord

It Finally Stopped Raining Where I Live

12122835_10153749320631929_7288846635090566621_n.jpg

It finally stopped raining here in the Chattanooga area. We have had 3 straight days of it and we haven’t seen the Sun since Friday I think. Rumor has it that it will make an appearance today. I know rain is a necessary thing but when it keeps coming it can be hard to get around. The rain can give you the blues especially if you make your living outdoors. Needless to say I am ready to dry out a bit. Excuse the language of my graphic but the sentiment is real.
