Hydrangeas Blooming in Fall

We have some hydrangea bushes in front of our house. They have struggled over the years but there is some blooming going on as the weather has gotten cooler. Each of them has a different color depending on the iron content in the soil they are growing in. It’s interesting how they grow. Everything has a season and these blooms are in theirs.

No, There is Power In That Small Word

No, is a complete sentence. It’s also a powerful word I find difficult to say. No is a small word with big impact. It can mean letting someone down. No means no but it also means having control in your life. No can be an habitual thing where you aren’t willing to do anything for anyone. As a people pleaser I find it hard to say no because I am wanting to do everything for everyone. Saying no to anyone is not always in my nature. In the world of sales there is a unique challenge to turn a no into a yes. That requires technique and communication and getting people to talk themselves into something they have said no to previously. Much of this is about conflict resolution and taking people seriously. Sometimes it’s just about your preferences and doing what you want to do.

Today is Friday…let’s be productive, solve problems and other stuff like that. I am glad to be at the end of another week. We are all working for the weekend though. Have a great day my blogging friends.

Throwback Thursday: 60 Years of Mount Vernon Restaurant

Tonight we dined out at Mount Vernon Restaurant, a fixture in the Chattanooga food scene for 60 years. I had the classic Mount Vernon cutlet which resembles chicken parmesan but made with pork. I paired it with some macaroni and cheese. For desert I enjoyed some amaretto pie which is delicious. It’s nice to take a culinary trip back in time. The prices were from the 1970’s which were good too.

It’s October 15, 2015 and the Egg Nog is on the shelves at the nearby convenience store. It’s not even Halloween yet. Too early for this. #christmascreep #christmas

I’m Against Bullying #spiritday

I believe no one deserves to get bullied. In our world that is becoming more diverse there are some who face bullying just for being who they are. LGBTQ kids are just trying to get through this life just like the rest of us and they shouldn’t have to face harm because of who they are. Matthew Shepard was one of those people who lost his life just because people didn’t like it because of his sexual orientation.

I am reminded that we are to love one another, period. Every person is valued and cherished by their higher power. To me God loves all the children of the world. I stand with you my LGBTQ brothers and sisters. Grace and peace to you in this world we live in.
