I bought a 2017 iMac and souped it up to run its Sequoia operating system through a program called OpenCore Legacy Patcher. This is a well designed computer with a beautiful operating system. Currently I am using the apps that came on the computer only. I might download an office suite to have suitable word processing capabilities. Any advice for this Mac novice is welcome.

A Commentary on Linux and Computer Hardware
Apple launched a new series of MacBooks recently called Neo. They are powered by the same chips that power iPhones. I think the company is producing so many new things that something you bought last year seems obsolete. That planned obsolescence cannot be good for the environment because of the e-waste it produces. We are also aware of Windows 11 making many systems obsolete too.
I am glad to do my part to keep older machines going as long as possible. Thanks to Linux working on perfectly good machines it can make a difference. It’s also fun and cool to keep an older system going with a little creativity such as more memory and SSDs. To the Linux community lets keep making our favorite distros better and easier for new users to come on board so they can save some time and money.
I recommend ZorinOS, Fedora or Linux Mint for anyone wanting to get into the Linux game. They are powerful operating systems that is easy on older systems. They are also full of features that will help you get things done such as web browsing, word processing, graphics, podcasts, email, music, gaming and more.
Technology Is Life And Life Is Technology

Technology is life and life is technology, that makes sense, right? We all depend on it so it seems. It’s personal too and we all use various systems, devices, and software depending on what will make life a little easier.
I have been testing Linux desktop operating system distros lately and I have discovered that the world of open source is in good hands. However, you have to find that information out by experiencing it for yourself. Like anything you have to do research and see what others say and then see if their conclusions meet your expectations.
I have both Windows 11 and Ubuntu 22.04 on my laptop. On my desktop, it’s Ubuntu 22.04 and Windows 10. I currently dual-boot them based on my mood and needs. My daily driver is Ubuntu 22.04 because it allows me to connect with others and manage my digital life. The bonus is that I get updates and upgrades without cost.
Many of my friends run Apple products but that stuff is expensive and they update way too often and keeping up is pricy. I am an Android user without shame. I do see way more damaged Apple devices than Android’s out there so there is something to be said about that.
This Artificial Intelligence stuff is fascinating and scary in equal measure. Have we not learned anything from the movies.
And yes, I am a total nerd.
