As a person in his 50s, I am certainly middle-aged. My sense of humor gravitates to that of a fifteen-year-old boy, it’s still hard to believe I am middle-aged. My body does tell me a different story there. Stuff hurts, and I need my bifocals to read almost everything.
I still listen to the music of my youth (the 70s and 80s). I try to keep up with what is going on these days to stay somewhat relevant. Being conversant with multiple generations is a good thing.
Being middle-aged, especially as a member of Generation X can be fun at times. Our history has let us see a lot of innovation and changes in the world. Like any era in history, you have got to roll with the punches and be flexible. Getting older is not for the feint of heart, though.
I found this nugget of wisdom on Facebook. I agree with it very much. Burnout is definitely related to being valued on the job and in other things you do. The way to keep people engaged and active, especially if they are a hardworking individual, is to offer some praise and appreciation. The same principles work for being on the job. As a people-pleaser, I have experienced this first hand. An attaboy or attagirl can be a good thing to do.
First off, the Iran-Israel conflict is between them and them alone. They have to work out their issues. The United States has no business in this, full stop! After what seems to have been endless war with Iraq and Afghanistan, getting into this regional conflict is something no one should have the stomach for.
There should have been some congressional approval and accountability here. Iran does not pose a direct threat to the United States. Our economic treatment of other countries has compromised our moral standing in the world in many ways. In many places, America is no longer is seen as the “good guys”.
The president said he would take two weeks to decide, which makes this decision to bomb questionable. Expect some sort of retaliation, and it won’t be safe for American’s to travel in the area.
America is an ally of Israel, but the current version of Israel isn’t what I support. While I support Jewish people, their government is something that isn’t worthy of getting behind. The people of Israel as described in scripture is something I have linkage too. Sure they weren’t perfect, but the hard life they endured is something more in tune with my own existence.
Iran has its vast problems with human rights since the Iranian Revolution. They aren’t to be let off the hook. A revolution seems to be cooking and that will be something if it happens. There is a lot to keep an eye on. Let’s hope for the best.
In any situation, peace must prevail. Peace through diplomacy is always best.
