Happy Thanksgiving To Everyone

Thanksgiving is happening today in America and as people gather as family and friends may their celebrations be ones of love and peace. For some, this is a time of remembering those who are no longer with us. May we all have things to be grateful for and help those who are in need. Happy Thanksgiving to everyone, everywhere.

How Are You Doing? – A Sunday Reflection

My priest was back at church this morning after being away due to his father’s untimely death. When someone is grieving asking them “how are you doing” can be a tough question. From my perspective, it’s good to ask and just listen to them and just be there for those who have experienced loss. You don’t have to do much but care about them, love them and do what you can when they need it.

Also asking how you are doing to those people in your life who just need someone to listen to and to give them an ear and your time. As Barbara Streisand once sang “people who need people are the luckiest people in the world” or something like that.

So, how are you doing?

Keep Swimming at Work

Work is one of those things that challenge you. It’s been my experience that you will have more productive days than others. When you have a daily quota that means working to meet or exceed whatever number that might be. There have been more days than not that I have overperformed.

Now there are times when you can’t just get there. Everyone has an off day but keeping your cool is important. Granted I have been frustrated because of the circumstances of the day but I try to keep going. As the movie “Finding Nemo” says just keep swimming. There is wisdom in that.

Just keep swimming and eventually, you will find your way to where you need to be, hopefully.

Don’t Forget To “Fall Back” This Sunday! #DaylightSavingTime

Daylight Saving Time ends this weekend. Don’t forget to set your clocks back on Saturday before turning in. You will get an “extra” hour of sleep which I know we can all use.

Have a great weekend good people.

Quote Of The Day

We are not to simply bandage the wounds of victims beneath the wheels of injustice, we are to drive a spoke into the wheel itself.

The Great Social Outage of October 2021

On October 4th there was a six-hour outage of Facebook and Instagram. Those six hours might as well have been 6 days because it cost them huge financial losses. It was a great day for Twitter with all the extra visitors they were getting.

Facebook and Instagram have become necessary evils for connection, communication, community, and commerce. I ask the question are there viable alternatives out there that people could migrate to? I haven’t found one that does all the things Facebook does which is to their credit in how they keep people engaged and using their platforms.

I do know people who have given it all up and are fine. They have no regrets and no fear of missing out. More power to them.

For six hours many people had to find other things to do. I think some of them enjoyed being liberated. Everyone, including me needs that sort of break from being on the ‘Book or the ‘Gram for a while.
