Speaking as a person who has been on the outside of life looking in I know the value of being included. It’s my personal goal to be as inclusive as possible with people in my life. Being excluded from things sucks if you ask me. It’s human nature to want to be valued and needed.
One thing I have learned from my experience is that life is too short not to enjoy life. A lot of people on the fringes would like that same experience and consideration. So many times in my life I have heard about situations where people were having fun and I wasn’t a part of it. I want to be sure that people in my life know they are welcome and that they are valued and wanted.
I use a service called IFTTT to add my Instagram photos to my blog. My reason for doing so is to make it easier to post a quick pic to my blog. The wildly popular photo sharing platform does some cool things to pictures and I want to bring that content to my blog. It is also another way to connect to you my blogging community. I don’t always like uploading pictures via the WordPress app and Instagram is much easier for a quick photoblog. Some folks prefer to keep them separate and that’s cool but for me I like bringing the two together. I wish Instagram would work natively without a 3rd party on WordPress.
Thanks to each of you who follow me on all my platforms. I appreciate your friendships and how you tell your stories of who you are and what you enjoy doing.
Are things perfect in this union, no. Are they as horrible as some would say no. There is a new normal and we all have to live in it. The good old days are not coming back no matter how some will try to turn back the clock. Many in my country would do well to be happy with what they have and be grateful for the blessings they have. We still live in a world with poverty and war so perhaps it isn’t too bad in the USA. Unfortunately the United State of Affairs is at best fractured and factional and I am not sure about the future.
When someone likes your posts and follows your blog it’s a great feeling. However, I am not all about getting as many followers as possible here at The Tony Burgess Blog. Quality is as important as quantity in my mind. A fellow blogger just mentioned she reached the 1000 follower mark and I am thinking do I want to do the same here. On Tumblr I had well over 1000 followers but it became difficult to manage that many. WordPress might be a different animal though.
Currently I am around 850 so I am not far off. Making connections and friendships in blogging is what I am most interested in doing, but can you do that with 1000 people. My brother-in-law has near 5000 friends on Facebook which I think is the cap on personal accounts but he is a person who naturally makes connections in his line of work. I guess time will tell if I reach that 1000 follower milestone. Perhaps I just should think that the more the merrier is a good thing. Hopefully it means people like you, or something like that.
