After church this afternoon we swung by a new bakery in the Chattanooga suburb of Red Bank. This bakery has been in the works for a few months and this is their opening weekend. Bread and Butter Bakery decided to do a “soft opening” so they didn’t have the widest range of offerings but what they had today looked pretty tasty. Featured items today were scones, brownies, baguette, cookies, seasoned loaves along with some locally sourced cheeses and butter. I am excited to see what they will do in the future.
This building once was home to a Baskin Robbins 31 Ice Cream shop that some friends of mine operated for years. It’s nice to see something good going into it.
The overnight weather has brought much needed rain to the area but in the form of severe storms. We had tornado warnings and watches along with severe thunderstorm warnings. It was very stormy overnight with a lot of thunder, lightning and winds. Some area school systems were on delay or closed. Perhaps this rain will be a cleansing thing that will restore things here. I am hoping the Gatlinburg, Tennessee area got a good soaking to take care of the fires there. Hopefully by this afternoon things will settle down.
Chattanooga has faced a drought for months. We are getting some serious rain that will help us recover from the dry spell. I am very glad the weather is changing for the better.
A great story about the importance of blood donation and especially the blood bank I work for. Without our donors many patients lives would be in the balance.
Thinking about the children who died, the children who survived, their families, the faculty and staff of Woodmore Elementary School in Chattanooga, Tennessee after Monday’s horrible bus crash. Grace and peace to them all. May they find comfort today and in the coming days.
Here in the southeastern part of the USA it’s unseasonably warm. Temps have been in the 80’s and 90’s. I remember as a kid when highs would be in the 60’s and lows in the 30’s and 40’s. Fall, so far, has been more like Summer. I sure wish it would cool down.
