Open Season on LGBTQ Folks

I am a supporter of LGBTQ people. They are citizens who pay taxes, contribute to community, sit in houses of worship on the Sabbath and are our neighbors.

However they are treated by some as second class citizens. It troubles me to see laws protecting their civil rights and freedom from discrimination being eroded by intolerant groups who are more interested in maintaining the status quo from long ago. What this is about is about the dignity and freedom of people to be who they are no matter what.

Women’s rights are being impacted for the negative too.

I am a man of faith who loves his neighbors as himself so I am concerned about people on the fringes. My religious freedoms have never been threatened. Anything that is new and different seems to threaten some folks and its sad they live in fear. Our political climate is a raging storm and some must take shelter.

I know some will disagree and that is fine. If you wish to cease following me that is cool. I will not debate or argue because it seems to be pointless. Thanks for your respect and time to let me express my feelings.

A Ramble About Cold War and Cuba

The longer you fight a war in your heart or mind the longer it wears on you and changes you. Eventually you forget what you were even fighting about in the first place. Perhaps the cold war of our souls should end so we can all live anew.

History is a good teacher but it is also something that holds us down from doing something new.

It’s past time for us to stop fighting the Cold War of the past and forge a new future with Cuba. It’s a place with a proud people who in other places in the world are treated better than they are by the old, tired guard of the USA. To create change there you must change here.

Today is International Women’s Day. This is a day to honor the contributions of women around the world. Thanks to the women in our lives who make our communities and families better for us all. It takes a woman to make things work and to get the job done. You all are awesome.

Rambling About The United State of Affairs

Are things perfect in this union, no. Are they as horrible as some would say no. There is a new normal and we all have to live in it. The good old days are not coming back no matter how some will try to turn back the clock. Many in my country would do well to be happy with what they have and be grateful for the blessings they have. We still live in a world with poverty and war so perhaps it isn’t too bad in the USA. Unfortunately the United State of Affairs is at best fractured and factional and I am not sure about the future.

A Ramble on Discrimination

Passing laws to protect discrimination is in itself discrimination. It is 2016 and there’s too much hate that is allowed to continue. Truly it is a shame this is a thing we see daily with many in our community. No one should be treated as a second class citizen anywhere.

With no Walmart, Texas town has no grocery store – Videos – CBS News

Walmart has closed 154 stores in 27 states, resulting in over 10,000 employee layoffs. Many of the stores that closed were the only source of groceries in the areas they served. David Begnaud is in Whitewright, Texas, where residents now have to drive 22 miles for groceries.

When Walmart moved into these communities they led to the closure of stores that existed for years before. Pretty crummy if you ask me.
