Interesting Time In Politics, Get Out And Vote

With Bernie Sanders endorsing Hillary Clinton yesterday and Theresa May becoming British Prime Minister today and of course Donald Trump this is an interesting time in politics around the world. It will be interesting to see how the US election goes. May will be leading the UK out of the EU so that will bring about significant changes globally and for some locally. Theresa May is the second female PM so will the USA see a Female President. If that happens 3 major world powers will have women at the helm.

Politics is ultimately about power and how people manipulate it. There is something about power that changes people.

I am fascinated by how things are going in other races that don’t involve the race for the White House. Politics is very local and personal too. Your local officials such as mayor, city council and county commissioners have way more impact on your own day-to-day life than anything nationally.

No matter what, know the issues and vote. It’s important for those who have the freedom to choose to do so. Politics is ugly but its even uglier when you don’t participate. Make your voice heard, its a good thing to do.

Theresa May began her political career in the middle of Margaret Thatcher’s premiership and has long been touted as the woman most likely to become Britain’s second female prime minister.

Later today Theresa May becomes the new Prime Minister of Great Britain. She follows in the steps of Sir Winston Churchill and Baroness Margaret Thatcher. From what I have read she will be a tough leader and will have to negotiate terms of the Brexit leave of the European Union. She is going to have her work cut out for her as she succeeds outgoing Prime Minister David Cameron who served for six years. .

My British/UK friends, what say you about your new Prime Minister?

PORTSMOUTH, N.H. — After 14 months of policy clashes and moments of mutual disdain, Bernie Sanders endorsed Hillary Clinton for the Democratic presidential nomination on Tuesday, clearing away the last major obstacle to a united Democratic front heading into the party’s convention this month and the general election this fall.

Sec. Clinton and Sen. Sanders have come together. I am pleased with this. We shall see how things go heading into the convention. Perhaps she will choose him as her VP running mate. Some aren’t thrilled with this but it is what it needs to be. Voting is important and we have much to decide in November.

To Serve and Protect. Senseless Killings Must Stop Everywhere

I am a supporter of law enforcement. Many of it’s rank and file do great things in the communities they serve. However good law enforcement begins with training, temperance and a little tolerance along the way. Too many people have lost their lives unnecessarily due to incidences that could have been prevented. Law enforcement should be there to serve and protect even those who they are apprehending. Some people do bad things and threaten community and they need to be brought to swift justice by whatever legal means necessary. It’s also up to community and government to work together so that people aren’t brought to a point of desperation to do bad things.

The senseless killings this week are a reminder that life in all its stages is important and valuable. We have seen the names flash upon our screens and devices. Those people did not deserve to die. We can pull the trigger of a gun and public opinion too quickly without having all the facts. Too many people are no longer with family and loved ones because of that. It needs to stop. People are important, everywhere.

I am not sure what to say after last night’s vote to leave the European Union. To my friends and fellow bloggers in the UK, stay the course on your own lives. Go out tonight and have some fun. Forget for a moment the politics that led to this vote. Hang in there. You have my support. It’s not the end of the world, although for some it feels like it this morning. Others are celebrating the results. Rule Britannia.

I’m Not An Angry Old Guy

In case you didn’t know I’m a 46 year old white male. Some people who I share this demographic are angry about the world they live in. They are dealing with a lot of change and status in the world they haven’t adapted to. I get that but getting mad isn’t the answer.

I’ve chosen to live and love and adapt. The future has promise and challenge and possibility if you have the right attitude.

What makes me mad is the inequality, racism, sexism and hate that is so prevalent today. Why do we despite and detest those different from us. Are we so angry about what others have that we fail to see the opportunities in front of us. How long will be too long to realize we need to live and love with all our hearts and soul.

I’m a old guy who is embracing the future and being open to the changing world around us. It’s all good gang.
