Every year, during the month of June, the LGBT community celebrates in a number of different ways. Across the globe, various events are held during this special month as a way of recognising the influence LGBT people have had around the world. Why was June chosen? Because it is when the Stonewall Riots took place, way back in 1969.
To all my friends in the LGBTQ+ community I stand with you during this Pride Month. I hope for a month of continued advocacy and most importantly inclusion in all of life for you all.
Certain conditions continue to exist in our society, which must be condemned as vigorously as we condemn riots. But in the final analysis, a riot is the language of the unheard.
Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
I am a black sheep by nature and by choice. God made me a person who feels and cares deeply about the world around me. I sometimes step on toes and ruffle some feathers in the process. There are more important things than my own popularity and acceptance. As Lady Gaga sings I was born this way and that is the gospel truth.
It is through breathing we all have life. A breath is a connection to the world and to our spirit. The next breath you take is a gift and the next one and so forth. Everything that has breath should cry out when there is injustice in the world. Our breath means we are continuing to fight the good fight. The voice we have comes from that breath that goes deep into our bodies and soul. Everyone should have the right to breath freely and without persecution. Thank you creator God for each breath I take. My friends, breathe today and love your neighbors and yourself.
