Caring For Creation

My church hosted a seminar on the environment and faith; the two should be closely linked. Being a good steward of the gifts of mother Earth is the right thing to do.

It requires using our hearts, minds, and spirit to do something for this creation of nature we have been given. It’s essential to do things such as recycling, conserving energy (yes I am not always good at that), and extending the life of the things I use to make life easier.

As a believer, I am glad to do these things because it’s a way of showing how much I want this planet to be there for future generations. Love your neighbor as yourself extends to being concerned for the environment. Caring for creation is a statement of faith.

Sunday Reflection: Breath and Breathing

It is through breathing we all have life. A breath is a connection to the world and to our spirit. The next breath you take is a gift and the next one and so forth. Everything that has breath should cry out when there is injustice in the world. Our breath means we are continuing to fight the good fight. The voice we have comes from that breath that goes deep into our bodies and soul. Everyone should have the right to breath freely and without persecution. Thank you creator God for each breath I take. My friends, breathe today and love your neighbors and yourself.

Quote Of The Day

Our sun is one of 100 billion stars in our galaxy. Our galaxy is one of billions of galaxies populating the universe. It would be the height of presumption to think that we are the only living beings in that enormous immensity…Wernher von Braun

A Bright Moon In A Clear Sky Full Of Stars

Image from Wikipedia

Last night the sky was clear and the moon was so bright it lit up the darkness. There is a cool beauty of the whole thing. Looking up in the sky to see moon in a sea of stars. Creation is awesome that way. It just seemed to make all the cares of the world go away if just for a moment. Think about how awesome it all is that we can see that majestic wonder just by looking up. Maybe there is something to be said about that.

Something About Stars

This morning while walking the dog I looked up and saw the stars in the sky shining brightly. The big dipper, the little dipper and other constellations were still visible in the dawn sky. Somehow this morning it put some things in perspective. Once you get out of Earth’s atmosphere things seem a little less complicated.

The drama of the planet seems to disappear. It’s just you and the celestial heaven that is all around you. Maybe we need to look to the stars of creation to reset and renew our soul. Yeah stargazing can help you think about things in a new way or at least remind you things aren’t as bad as they might seem.

Wherever you are, look up to find yourself again.
