Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar. It is observed by Muslims worldwide as a month of fasting, communal prayer, reflection, and community. May all who celebrate be blessed by the spiritual connections that are made during his holy time of year.
Today is Shrove Tuesday, many know it as pancake day. In some Christian traditions, this holiday revolves around feasts, parties and parades before the observance of Lent begins. In the early ages of the Church, people took pancakes to the Church and ate them while they were waiting to be shrived. At my church we gathered to eat pancakes, enjoy company and have some fun. Our youth sponsored our event as a fundraiser for a summer trip where they will go to help the Appalachian Service Project.

So, today is Friday the 13th. In the world we live in now, it’s aligning with all the other chaos going on. Superstitions can be funny and weird at the same time. Be safe everyone no matter what.
