NBC Olympics presents coverage of the Opening Ceremony of the Games of the XXXI Olympiad from Maracana Stadium on Friday, August 5 at 7:30 p.m. ET/PT on NBC (in the United States, check local listings).
Tonight the Rio Olympics officially start in Rio. Athletes from around the world will gather to compete for gold, silver and bronze. It’s always an exciting time to see these games with ancient roots. May the athletes and others gathering and be safe from harm and that peace will be the theme of the events.
Viewing the two most recent Star Trek movies is a must to prepare for the new movie “Star Trek: Beyond”. I hope to be seeing it tonight. This is the opening sequence from the original TV series.
It’s time once again to fire up the cameras, turn on the lights and to see how total strangers get along with one another for the Summer. Big Brother which has versions around the world is a great social experiment. Julie Chen returns to host the American version which airs on CBS. Let’s see how the new crop of house guests do as they compete for $500,000 (which should be like a $1 million by now). I hope the “hamsters” are ready to expect the unexpected, do not assume anything.
Nothing says Memorial Day weekend like a Harry Potter Marathon on the Telly (Freeform Channel in the USA)…Here’s to all the witches and wizards who have fallen in the defense against Lord Voldemort.
Alisan Porter had a interesting journey to winning The Voice. She played Curly Sue in the movie by the same name. She was also on Star Search as a kid. Now she wins the American version of The Voice. Her vocal range can go from powerful to subtle. I can see why she won this. Her coach Christina Aguilera became the first woman coach to win too. Congratulations Alisan.
One of my favorite shows with one of my favorite actors says farewell tonight. It’s the series finale of Mr. Selfridge on PBS. Jeremy Piven is a great actor and has done a great job in this role of the historic and iconic department store magnate Harry Gordon Selfridge. The show airs originally in the UK on ITV.
