Today at work I learned that making decisions and making policy are things you have to create as you go along. Sometimes it means changing things to suit the current situation. In a transition you learn a lot about yourself and those who work with you. I am honoring those who got me where I am by trying to do my best to meet expectations and achieve goals set before me. Much of the times it’s about figuring stuff out on your own. Also there is leading people and hopefully inspiring them to do their best too.

Well, It’s Monday Again Everyone
Hey, It’s #Friday Y’all. Let’s Do This!
Happy Friday Fellow Workers
What I Learned This Week As Team Leader
Being a team leader in any line of work is a big responsibility. You are placed in trust of the lives and livelihoods of everyone you are placed in charge of. Management is not easy because you have to coach, correct and discipline when necessary. It is also a fun job because you get to do different things and to impart your vision to your team. I hope to grow and develop as a person as I do this job.
Of course you have production goals to achieve which requires a lot of work and being sure that work is done by every team member. You as a middle manager which I am means you get pressure from the top to perform and you get it from below from your team when they have problems, and you hope that you can manage them as they happen.
In my line of work there statistics, metrics, data and spreadsheets that one can use to measure performance and productivity. However a co-worker said that stats don’t make the person, the worker is more valuable than that. Now that I am headed into my second week in management I see things coming together and things smoothing themselves as I go along. Indeed I am grateful for this opportunity.
There’s A Lot To Know About Being A Leader
Leadership is something that can be innate or learned through experience. For me it is a little of both. Today was my second day of being the team leader at work and I am finding out there is a lot to know. Today I was spending time with the human resources director at work for some leadership coaching. My position is a supervisory role so there are some institutional and personnel procedures involved in the job. I also did some data entry in updating our team stats so spreadsheets will become a greater part of my responsibilities. My new job will be good in time, I just need to be patient and allow myself to have growing moments. Tomorrow is another day, lets see how it goes.
