Tony,
I like your post and will continue to follow, but I will relay one thing. I own several guns and I can tell you this for sure. I can put my guns on the kitchen table and command them to kill someone. It won’t happen. People are the evil behind this, not the guns. Timothy McVey did it with a truck bomb. The Boston Marathon guy did it with a pressure cooker. The crazy bastards who pulled off the 911 attacks used box cutters and air planes. Evil will find a way.
Thanks for allowing me the opportunity to speak. Once again, I read this post and will continue to do so.
Thanks,
Tim

Not only that… it’s an assault rifle, and most likely, a military weapon that’s used in battle, shoots at least 30 rounds per second. It’s for killing, not hunting sweet , innocent deer.

I’m not going to get into the politics of this, but just offer my thoughts and prayers to those affected.😞

It’s just sad really. More than 50 dead! I just can’t even begin to fathom what beseiges a human mind to commit such atrocities.

It might cost me some long time friends, it might mean me gaining new ones. One is gold the other is silver, that sort of thing.

True. I’m not sure how I feel about guns, but I sure hate that they are more protected than people.

Tony I am 100% with you.
Every time an atrocity like this happens people like @TimKeen40 roll out the same platitudes. Guns don’t kill people, people do is the crux of their argument. This is closely followed by “we need to arm more good guys to stop the bad guys.”
Last year the UK had 51 gun related homicides. The USA with all of its guns had over 30 thousand. The USA seems to have a mass killing every week. The UK has had two in my lifetime and I am 55. The statistics don’t lie, the USA has more gun related deaths than anywhere else on the planet.
I somehow managed to live through almost 30 years as a cop and guess what I never touched a gun never mind carried one throughout that time.
The inescapable truth is that almost all of these atrocities are carried out by people with legally held firearms. When conditions are right, when something gets them angry enough, people with firearms will use them all too often.
There is no reason why sane and sensible people should not have guns but there has to be a system in place to ensure that those weapons are only available to people who are indeed sane and sensible.
Those who refuse to see the facts are either being deliberately obtuse or are just too plain dumb to see what is staring them in the face.

More guns have the opportunity to kill more people. It’s not the answer. We do not live in the wild west.
