Hi there, my name is Tony Burgess (my friends call me T-Bird) from Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA. I am a believer, bleeding heart, idealist, and blogger. I'm married to Laura the Soup Diva and a dog dad to Frankie, Cody, and Mikey. Daily I work for a blood bank recruiting donors. My blog is where I chronicle and curate the sacred, serious, and silly things in my life. I am a member of The Episcopal Church. Thank you for connecting with me. Grace, peace, and love!

Now That I’m 47, Now What

Now that I am another year older, I don’t want to be a middle aged dork who thinks he knows it all, trust me I don’t. Saying things such as “back in my day” kinda pains me because I still think I am 27 sometimes. Of course I don’t want to be some “creepy old guy” for being friendly to those younger than myself. Growing older doesn’t mean shriveling up and being boring but being able to explore life from a place of maturity and hopefully wisdom.

Dick Van Dyke is one of the greatest entertainers in America but as a senior citizen he is connected and uses technology with the best of them and he seems to navigate the social scene very well.

I want to navigate the world in a relevant way while still representing my generation and sharing my life’s experiences with those I love and like. Blogging helps me stay in the know and informs me of what the world is in the here and now.

Daily Prompt: Vice

Vice is defined as a moral depravity or corruption. It’s a flaw or weakness. Some people have their vices they struggle with and some things they embrace. A vice is also a  thing that holds something in place using a heavy clamp as seen above. Then there is having your head in that same vice which always hurts, figuratively speaking. You don’t want to be busted by the vice squad of a police department. Being a Vice President is a pretty cool job. So as you see the word vice has many meanings. I think people who are left to their own devices can get into trouble or do amazing things. What’s your vice?

A Ramble About Protesting

Is it more important to idolize symbols of nationality or to see to it people have equal rights and opportunities for life, liberty and happiness? Respecting an object should come second to actual people who’s lives are severely impacted by the circumstances they face. Many people live in places where they are threatened and don’t have access to the best things community to offer. To me that is more important than anything. To me the right to protest is an important because its tied to freedom of expression. When ones friends and loved ones remain oppressed then its a good thing to stand up for what is really right.
