Hi there, my name is Tony Burgess (my friends call me T-Bird) from Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA. I am a believer, bleeding heart, idealist, and blogger. I'm married to Laura the Soup Diva and a dog dad to Frankie, Cody, and Mikey. Daily I work for a blood bank recruiting donors. My blog is where I chronicle and curate the sacred, serious, and silly things in my life. I am a member of The Episcopal Church. Thank you for connecting with me. Grace, peace, and love!

Huckleberry Licorice, My Montana Vacation Addiction

Huckleberries are big in Montana. My cousin introduced this Wiley Wallaby huckleberry licorice to me while on vacation. My friends, it’s addictive. It’s hard to find here in Tennessee so it was mail ordered. It’s not cheap. This is definitely a splurge.

Star Trek Anniversary – To Boldly Go And Live Long And Prosper

Star Trek Day is about celebrating a visionary science fiction TV show on September 8, which had the broadcast premiere of the series on that day in 1966. The day is celebrated by fans across the world to acknowledge the cultural impact of the Star Trek franchise.

Since the original series there have been spinoff series such as The Next Generation, Discovery and Strange New Worlds that continue the story that creator Gene Roddenberry brought to life fifty-nine years ago.

As a fan of the series, I have been impacted by its morality, social justice, and dedication to inclusion. Without Star Trek, the world would be different. It’s ultimate statement of creating a world in which all can take part is the Vulcan concept of infinite diversity in infinite combinations. We need that now more than ever these days. Thank you, Star Trek, for showing us a better way forward. May we Boldly Go as we Live Long And Prosper as we head into Star Trek’s 60th anniversary in 2026.

Star Trek is the story of the future we must find our way towards. I think God would want that too.

It’s A Monday Minions!

Hello fellow Minions, it’s Monday again. Let’s have the best day possible. Love and peace to you all today.

Farewell David Gibbs, You Will Be Missed Friend

David Gibbs, a friend of the family, passed away on September 4th. This is a good man who loved God, family, community and his alma mater The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. He is a kind and caring person who was a teacher, leader, organizer and musician, photographer and so much more.

David, who is on the left and my dad, who is on the right, are a couple of University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Mocs alumni and fans who are reunited in heaven. I predict they are talking about football, basketball, and so many other things. I hope my dad is taking David to the best tailgate locations in heaven. Rest in peace, David. I miss you, dad.

Be Kind Online

I make a good effort to be kind online. However, some things people say need to be challenged, but that can be done without being a total jerk. Some of the comments I see online are really inappropriately cruel. It’s the security of an always on connection to the Internet and a keyboard that makes being mean possible. It’s important that we are all human beings. Be kind to one another, but remember to focus on justice and peace for everyone above all. Love and grace to us all.

Daily Prompt – How Do I Relax?

Daily writing prompt
How do you relax?

I answered this daily prompt in August of last year. I am revisiting it to say the things that cause me not to relax are still present. I do what I can to relax, but it’s hard for me. Being able to relax is important, and it’s taking me awhile to figure out to do more of it. But when I do relax I like to blog, watch TV, listen to podcasts, and cook breakfast on a Saturday morning. I do enjoy working on computer stuff too.

Visit my post from last year to see how I answered this question.
