About Meghan and Harry

I am going on record as saying I am a supporter of the monarchy even though I am a citizen of a country that fought it in a war for independence. It serves a function of service to the commonwealth and provides a historic continuity of leadership that dates back centuries.

However it like many institutions has serious faults that have made it problematic in how it relates to the people. In the case of the Duke and Duchess Sussex, they seriously dropped the ball and failed to take care of the family. Granted I don’t know all the details but in Meghan and Harry’s interview with Oprah Winfrey, we got a pretty good look into how things operate with “The Firm”.

You can see the full interview online and I won’t bring up all the specifics but racism and a lack of caring for the couple is shameful. Harry as a veteran served his country and deserves better treatment. By extension, his wife and children should benefit from his service too. It’s also acting like human beings and showing love and affection. As a modern couple they were ready to serve Great Britain and do the things to bring honor and positive attention to the Royal Family.

I feel that the Monarchy has a long way to go in being relevant and modern. There are some hard lessons and truths to be learned from these revelations. Let’s hope Buckingham Palace can be a quick study and apply what they are learning the hard way.

When You Are Having A Bad Day

There’s a silver lining here.

International Women’s Day 2021 #IWD2021

To every woman on this day may you be seen and heard. May your struggles and burdens be shared. May your love, spirit, and light be felt all around and be an inspiration. Without women of all types, the world is not the same. Let your labor and contributions be compensated fairly and equally. Keep shattering glass ceilings of all types. It’s your world too. I salute you all today good people.

(Note: To the Transgender women out there you are a part of this in how you live your truth).

Are You OK?

It’s wonderful to ask someone if they are OK. Really. Are you OK good people?

What A Saturday

I am so glad to finally be home after this pretty crazy Saturday. I got up and made breakfast for the Mrs. and me and later went to Walmart to get a new car battery and to get an oil change. Being in Walmart during COVID is interesting. It’s been a while since I have people watched and I will tell you there were a few folks who didn’t know how to wear a mask properly. As I waited I had a Subway sandwich. It made the time go by a little faster. It appears I need some new tires eventually but that will have to wait a while.

After Walmart, I went to check on my mom. And did a few things for her. Then made my way to the grocery store to pick up a few things and as I tried to start my car it wouldn’t start which was frustrating because I just had a new battery put in. Well, I got roadside assistance to come give it a tow to my preferred garage to get it fixed. My very wonderful Mrs. came to rescue me so we could go home to resume our evening after waiting for the tow truck to come.

My friends, I am glad to be home. It’s been one interesting day. One thing I can say is that other folks have probably had it much worse so they should know I see them in a way. Did I mention I am tired after all this?
