Hi there, my name is Tony Burgess (my friends call me T-Bird) from Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA. I am a believer, bleeding heart, idealist, and blogger. I'm married to Laura the Soup Diva and a dog dad to Frankie, Cody, and Mikey. Daily I work for a blood bank recruiting donors. My blog is where I chronicle and curate the sacred, serious, and silly things in my life. I am a member of The Episcopal Church. Thank you for connecting with me. Grace, peace, and love!

Throwback Thursday – Sad Demolitions

There have been two buildings that have been a part of my life for many decades. One is an old burger and shake shop and another is an old dry cleaner business. Both buildings I have driven by daily for years. This week, both buildings have been torn down. Granted, they had seen better days, but still, there was a comfort in seeing something not changing buildings hanging on.

This is the Dairy Gold, It was demolished this week.

Now there is much change happening all around, and I find myself to be highly sentimental and a little sad because of it. The Dairy Gold in the picture above is where my wife and I had our first date. It closed many years ago and was a place where a glass artist set up shop.

I will remember both buildings with great fondness. Farewell Dairy Gold building. Farewell Dry Cleaner Building.

Personal Note: I plan a post on me being a highly sentimental person soon.

My Fedora Experiment Has Ended

I used Fedora KDE for a few days, and it seemed that it was a little buggy. There was an issue with integrating Google Mail, calendar, and drive with it seamlessly. Linux Mint, my long-time distribution, does all of that without a problem. I am using the Cinnamon desktop variation, and it’s well-equipped and feature rich.

I am glad to be back with something I feel comfortable with and has an old school feel about it. Experimenting with something new is always a good thing to do to flex your mind and muscles. Linux Mint is going to release distribution upgrade soon.

Our Resident Rooster

OK, we have a wild rooster who has taken up residence in our neighborhood. It’s a beautiful bird who we have given the name of “Rocky”. Every morning it lets the neighborhood know the sun is coming up and also has other things to say. I don’t mind it being among us. It’s breaks up the craziness of the world we find ourselves in. Rock on Rocky!

Trying A New Operating System, Fedora KDE Plasma

I have been tinkering again, and this time I have been experimenting with the Fedora Linux operating system.

Fedora Linux is a Linux distribution developed by the Fedora Project. It was originally developed in 2003 as a continuation of the Red Hat Linux project.

There are different flavors of Fedora and I have been testing the KDE Plasma variant and I like it very much. I am a long-time user and I have been able to customize it to my liking and my workflow as an enthusiast who knows enough to be dangerous. I am using it on my desktop and laptop, so I am all-in.

My Fedora Linux KDE Plasma Desktop

So far, it’s worked well for me. I look forward to using it more and adjusting to how different it is from the Debian/Ubuntu distributions I have been using since I switched to Linux from Windows many years ago. This looks like a promising start to doing something new in Nerd Corner.

Status Update

Today has been a great day to chill out and do fun things. That includes making breakfast burritos, taco salad and doing computer stuff. It’s been a good day.

Thanks For The Birthday Wishes

Thank you for your kindness in celebrating my birthday. I don’t always feel worthy, but I do appreciate all of those I have shared this life with over the years. Peace and love good people.
