Hi there, my name is Tony Burgess (my friends call me T-Bird) from Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA. I am a believer, bleeding heart, idealist, and blogger. I'm married to Laura the Soup Diva and a dog dad to Frankie, Cody, and Mikey. Daily I work for a blood bank recruiting donors. My blog is where I chronicle and curate the sacred, serious, and silly things in my life. I am a member of The Episcopal Church. Thank you for connecting with me. Grace, peace, and love!

The Power Is Back

Saturday we had a nasty storm come through the area that caused some damage and downed trees. We lost our power on Saturday afternoon with some important things going on such as dinner and baking a cake for church.

It’s Sunday and our power is back on, and I am glad. Thanks to a crew of linemen who we met at the end of our street as we made our way to church. Thanks to those folks who were there to serve and to help out every day and in every situation.

Let’s hope we don’t have to replace much from our fridge that was off for 14 hours or so.

The End Of A Crazy Week

I am so glad it’s Saturday. This week has been way too crazy.

On Monday we had a flat tire and had to get our car towed to our mechanic where he checked the car out and put on our spare tire. He also installed a new air conditioner, and It’s come at a good time because it’s hot and humid out.

On Tuesday, we spent over $700 at Walmart on new tires for our car. Which should keep us safe on the roads because it’s been raining a lot here.

Wednesday, we went to a new Endocrinologist to reboot our diabetes care regimen. It looks like we both have things to work on, but it was good to have a plan and to get going on the road to better blood sugar.

On Friday, we went to the pharmacy and spent another chunk of change on drugs and other things for our diabetes care. Staying alive is expensive sometimes.

All of this was done while getting the job done at work. I have to say, being a grownup and taking care of stuff can be not a lot of fun. We are both glad it’s the end of the week. Let’s see what happens next.

National Donut Day

Today is National Donut Day where the prince of pastry gets honored for a day. I’m enjoying a jelly filled and maple frosted donut. It’s a great treat considering the week that has been.

Throwback Thursday

Time marches on and I look different don’t you think. I like my current look, I call it dork mode with an attitude.

Share With A Homie

I’m more of a Pepsi guy but these Coca Cola cans with people’s names are fun. This can is a little generic in that it invites one to share a Coke Zero with a homie. I can dig the sentiment.
