This is my favorite contemporary song about America. Neil Diamond speaks and sings from a place welcoming and hospitality, two things America should be about always.

Today we celebrated my dad’s birthday, which was actually yesterday. We took him to the Tennessee Aquarium’s IMAX theater in Chattanooga to see the fantastic IMAX movie “A Beautiful Planet” in 3D. It is a very moving film that takes place on the International Space Station. Academy Award winner Jennifer Lawrence narrates this story of how our planet is a wonderful but fragile place that is our home. The space station is a really cool place where important work is being done. Those who call the station home come from different places and when you are in space borders don’t matter much. Their work has a common goal of making the world a better place. One big point the movie makes is that our planet’s resources are being used at a very high rate and that threatens us all. Seeing the changes from above can change your perspective on your life.
We are to be crew members on planet Earth in taking care of each other. The notion that it’s every person for itself is wrong. You don’t get a free ride but you are responsible for one another and you have to care about the place you live before it is lost forever.
Here’s The Trailer for the movie…
My dad is a big fan of The Bee Gees and in honor of his birthday today’s Flashback Friday music is “How Deep Is Your Love” from 1977.
This classic rock anthem from the 1980’s is about female empowerment and great dancing. Love is a battlefield among other things.
Just a little something to get you going wherever you are. This is a classic song by one of the great bands in music history.
In honor of the results being tabulated in the Brexit/European Union referendum. “The Clash” say it best.
