About Alison and Adam, News Pros. Gone too soon.

I hope to be as nerdy of the highest order about my work as reporter Alison Parker and photographer Adam Ward were about theirs. The two news pros who were taken from this life today leave the world entirely too early and less informed. May their spirit live on by every student of mass comm and journalism who will follow in their footsteps. They are just signing off for now, they will be seen again in eternity.

National Radio Day – A Celebration Of A Great Wireless Invention

Each year on August 20th, National Radio Day celebrates the great invention of the radio.

I am old school in listening to the FM and AM bands on my truck’s radio. I believe in local radio where you are connected with community, its events, information that impacts you and of course music. The radio does give you something to listen to as you are doing your days activities. It is also good for your soul too. Much of the music I knew about as a kid came through the radio because we didn’t have MTV for most of my life and there was no YouTube in my youth.

Radio is also theatre of the mind and it allows you to use your imagination in very powerful ways. It almost resembles a book like that.

I listen to National Public Radio via WUTC 88.1 FM so I can remain informed and entertained about what is happening here in Chattanooga.

The Shootings In Chattanooga Happened One Week Ago Today

We remember these men, we remember that day, we thank them for their service. Grace and peace to my home of Chattanooga, TN as we look back to one week ago. It is all hard to believe.

In Honor Of The Fallen of Chattanooga at The White House

Thank’s to the President and the White House for making this happen to honor the four Marines and one Sailor killed last Thursday in Chattanooga. A very fitting tribute.

Rambling About Situational Anger and Negativity

Protect your enthusiasm from the negativity of others…H. Jackson Brown, Jr.

We live in a world where negativity permeates much of our lives and culture. From social media to traditional media we are bombarded with bad news. I think this wears on us and brings us down. Here in Chattanooga reaction to the shootings of Thursday has been very mixed. People have gone on Facebook and Twitter to share anguish and at times very venomous statements against Muslims, The President and the situation as a whole. The whole thing is very sad and has impacted people emotionally and mentally.

I am kind of sad about the whole thing. Anger won’t bring back the dead. But love can stop future situations. Paying attention to those who are in need could save more lives than you think. When a person is in need offer them help. Flip the whole situation around to give people hope.

My blog is a positive place I hope. I will share what I am feeling and sometimes it will not be all cheery and happy. However I want people to know how committed I am personally and as a blogger to giving us some hope, grace and love.

Be positive, it looks good on you.
