Tunes Tuesday – Daryl Hall and John Oates – Some Things Are Better Left Unsaid

Sometimes we say things we shouldn’t to important people. Perhaps there is a comment on a blog or Facebook we shouldn’t have posted. We all say things we don’t mean but are very sorry for. “Some Things Are Better Left Unsaid” is off the Big Bang Boom record by Hall and Oates from 1984.

Daily Prompt: Transformation

Transformation means change, to be made into something new. When you evolve and grow than transformation is inevitable. Being transformed means allowing yourself to become something better or different from what was before. The butterfly goes from a larvae into something beautiful. It is important to know that transitioning from one thing to another is a painful process sometimes but it can be worth it in the end. Change means leaving things behind in hopes for better things ahead.

Music Monday – “My Shot” – From #Hamilton The Musical

Music Monday has returned after a small absence. This is a great one to return on.

Lin-Manuel Miranda and team have created a great musical about American History featuring Alexander Hamilton and Aaron Burr. Hamilton is great art in full display. I would love to see this musical but tickets are hard to come by and they are expensive which speaks to the demand for this Broadway show.

Honey Soy Pork Roast

This is what we had for dinner tonight. It is tasty, savory and full of Asian flavors.

Laura B's avatarThe Soup Diva

  • 3-4 lb pork roast
  • 3/4 cup honey
  • 1/3 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp sesame (or olive) oil
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp minced garlic
  • 1 tbsp dried cilantro
  • 1 tsp ground ginger
  • 1 tsp dried mustard
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
Dry pork, season all over with salt and pepper, and place in slow cooker. In separate bowl, combine all other ingredients and pour over pork. Cook on low for 6-8 hours. Remove meat from crock and slice or shred; return to crock and allow to sit in sauce until ready to serve.

We had this with simple buttered rice and roasted veggies. It was delish!
