Three years ago I bought my first Chromebook. It has served me well but I needed something with some more power and more up-to-date so This Acer Chromebook 14 is my new daily laptop driver. Its got some good features such as a nice screen, all metal outside and more. I am pleased to have this new gadget working for me now.
I run a Linux distribution and use Chrome to browse and post. However I seem to have been targeted by some malware. Its frustrating since Linux should be free of that. Its also effecting my Chromebook too. Any advice? I can’t even post on either computer on WordPress. Help please.
I have finally settled on Ubuntu 16.04.1 which is running really well so far on the new desktop. Ubuntu is an Open Source operating system that runs like Windows or iOS but it’s free and is largely community and developer supported. At the moment I am downloading free software so I can do things like edit photos, manage media and to create stuff for the blog and so much more.
You may ask why not just use Windows…well I have been a fan of Linux for years. I have been able to take old computers and give them new life because there is less bloatware and that sort of thing. It’s also a matter of being able to upgrade without cost. My Chromebook is based of of Linux too so it runs on the same principle.
Creating and connecting is going to be a lot of fun using this new configuration.
The best update/upgrade to iOS is to get an Android phone. Apple isn’t the only game in town and Google is great at the stuff you need to do online and on your phone. My next phone will be an Android. I am a fan of what I can do with my Chromebook and Android phone. It’s good to think differently. Upgrading your perception can be a good thing.
Bookmarks have been around for as long as there have been books and websites. These shortcuts to content are important for web users to get to where they need to go quickly. This morning I did some work on adding some frequently used bookmarks to my browser because they were lacking. Accessing content directly from the source can give you more information. I use a Chromebook so my browser is Google Chrome natively. Bookmarks are a living, breathing thing that will be added to and edited over time. Be sure you take advantage of folders to make it faster to get to the sites you want to see and sort them by title too. Also sync your bookmarks to Google so you can access them anywhere you like including your mobile device.
Chromebooks are about to take over the world.A few days ago, Google announced that Chromebooks will soon be able to run Android apps from the Google Play app store, finally making them fully capable computers and putting them in a position to put a real dent in Apple and Microsoft’s dominance in PCs.
I am a Chromebook and Android user and I have found they work well for all my needs. This article’s news doesn’t surprise me because of the price point and the usability. Sometimes what isn’t popular might work best, you just have to use your imagination and be creative.
